How can i contact Al Sharton?

the reason why i am asking for Rev. Al Sharpton' s contact information such as: Phone numbers and addresses is because i would like to make a protest on something that was only done to African American females by white policemen yesterday (2/5/08) at around 3:00pm on spring street (6th ave.) in the train station (E %26amp; C train) after school. A few students from Chelsea high school were assulted by Police officers from the 2nd present.

While cycle training over winter I need to store data of average speeds on a spreadsheet to monitor fittness.?

I am relatively new to Excel and need a simple layout for data input such as 3 columns A, B and result in C. Distance (decimal miles) in A, time (hrs, mins, secs) in B and average speed (as 00.00 mph) in C. Would any kind person be able to offer suggestions for layout and cell/column formula so I am able just to enter date in columns A and B. I need accuracy to 2 decimal places to monitor progress for a 'same-distance ride' at the end of each week.

While cycle training over winter I need to store data of average speeds on a spreadsheet to monitor fittness.?
Put your titles in A1 - Miles, B1 - Time and C1 - Average speed

Paste your data starting with A2, B2 and C2

Right click and choose formats on the the first data cell(A2) choose the numbers tab and make the format for to numbers and 2 decimal places, change your formats on your second and third cells (B2, C2) to time and choose whichever time format you like the look of.

For C2, paste in the following formula

= A2/B2, then copy and paste that formula down

If you want an overall average, hit the sum button and sum column A, do the same to column b and then paste your formula in column c.

So if you went 10 miles in 5 minutes, it would look like this

Miles...........................Time..... Time

10................................ ..5....................=A2/B2

.....................................(or 2 minutes is what it will show you)

Hope this helps.
Reply:i am not sure of your formula to get your speed---but in column A you would enter your miles and got to format and set your General decimal to 2 places.

Column B would be formated to Time (hr:min:sec)

Column C would again be General with 2 decimal places.

A B C

distance time Speed

10.00 1:30:45 20.00

good luck :)

A1 enter miles

B1 enter hours

C1 enter minutes

D1 enter seconds

E1 =ROUND(((B1/3600+C1/60+D1)/3600)*A1,2)
Reply:A1 enter Miles, say 100 miles

B1 enter time, say 1:15:30

C1 enter =ROUND(A1/(B1*24),2)

in C1 the value return from the formula will be 79.47, if you want to have units on the figure

C1 enter =ROUND(A1/(B1*24),2)%26amp;" mph"

then you will get 79.47 mph

Lab Puppy Training?

I'm really having a hard time keeping my 13 wk old lab puppy from urinating in his crate. Maybe he has a medical condition? im not sure, but i think its behavioral. We NEVER leave him in his cage for more than 4 hours during the day. He is always out and playing etc. He went a few weeks with not urinating in his cage;however, he has decided again to re-start the cycle of peeing in his cage.

Also, we keep a blanket in his cage.. we were told not too, but atleast if he pees, it soaks up his pee, and he isn't covered in pee. If we dont put the blanket in there, he is soaked with pee, and we have to give him a bath before letting him run around the house.

He is a house puppy.

Its almost like he pees in his cage, b/c he knows we will get him out and clean him, etc. immediatley (b/c we dont want the house to smell, or have stains, etc.)

is there something else we can do to help teach him he shouldn't pee in his cage?

Lab Puppy Training?
My dad is a proffesional british lab trainer and for small puppys they greatly recommended kennels where they can barely have room to move around in. If they have kennels just barely big enough for them then they will not want to pee since they would have to be in it but if it is big enough, they will establish the back of the kennel as a peeing area so they can just move to the front when it's gone. Also, remove the towel because the puppy hates to be in its own urine but giving it the towel tells it that it can still pee and stay dry so get rid of the towel and downsize to the smallest crate he can fit into and wait a few days to see how it goes. Also, dont give it water after 6 pm at night or it is likely to have an accident the next night and always let it use the bathroom before putting it in the kennel

This leadership training is made for me but...!?

I applied for this summer leadership conference that lasts a week %26amp; I really, really want to go. It is centered around a field of medicine that I am very passionate about %26amp; want to pursue in the future. I have great credentials for it b/c I am partly certified for some techniques, am the organization's president at my school and have had a decent amount of exposure to it. I received an e-mail saying that they think I am very qualified but am put on the wait list due to lack of spots. I later found out that the main reason is b/c there is another guy at my school (Co-pres of that group) that is going %26amp; they only accept 20 people across the country so don't want to pick 2 from the same school. I contacted the person about it %26amp; she said they tried having %26lt;1 from the same school last year %26amp; didn't think it worked that well. How do I convince her that having 2 people from the school is worth it %26amp; that they should really let me come?!! I really think it would be worth it!!

This leadership training is made for me but...!?
just do it

.......hows that for leadership?

Naval Training School duration?

How long is Naval A, B, and C school generally? My boyfriend is in Fire Control (non-sub), and his C school will be close to my home. Are they a few months each? Is there anywhere I can find out online? His recruiters are kind of turds...

Thanks. =)

Naval Training School duration?
I was an FC in the Navy too. First off, there are no FCs on submarines - those are FTs, and have an entirely different basic school, A School, and a different selection of C Schools.

Also, there is no B School - only A and C. For FCs, their eduction generally goes through Tech Core (where they designate as an FC or ETs - members of the AECF field are one of the few jobs that don't actually have a rating in their contract), which takes about 16 weeks if I remember correctly (I did this in 1999...so it was a while ago) and is in NTC Great Lakes, IL. If he designates as an FC, A School is also in NTC Great Lakes, IL and takes 11 weeks. During the 4th week of A School, students are allowed to select their C School - all of which vary in length.

I was an 1121 FC, Phalanx CIWS Operator/Technician. My C School was in FCTCLANT Dam Neck (NAS Oceana Annex) in Virginia, and took 36 weeks to complete.
Reply:no such thing as B school anymore.

If he is certain to get any of the FC C schools, many of them are at San Diego, Dam Neck or Dahlgren. Those range in length from a couple of months to nearly a year and sometimes more.

Between Boot Camp, Tech Core(AET) and FC A school, it is around a year or so up at Great Lakes. You will NOT be able to see him until after Pass in Review and then after He reaches the proper phase School side.. Maybe less if he gets through the self paced AET quickly.

Once they arrive at C school, there are several phases they must go through before he is allowed off base, overnight Liberty or even be allowed to live off base. Expect at least 30 days before he is allowed off base.
Reply:Different schools have different lengths of time to complete as well as there are several schools he will have to complete before his B school my schooling took 8 months and I did my C schooling later at my first duty station
Reply:The length of a "C" School depends on what type of "C" School he goes to. I was a fire controlman in the Navy. The first school was 5 months(I hear that it has been considerably shortened since in went through in 2000) My "A" school was 3 months long and both of those were in Great Lakes. My "C" School was 8 months long and I was in San Diego. Some "C" schools will be longer or shorter depending on what kind of FC he is going to be.
Reply:First of all, there are only A and C schools. Don't ask why, just press the "I believe" button on that. Second, unless he is already there, hemight not be an FC at all. Everyone in ARTC goes through Tech Core first, and then they get to choose ET or FC. Sometimes based on the needs of the Navy, you might not get to pick.

FC "A" school is in Great Lakes, and when I went through lasted 12 weeks. He will not know his "C" school until half way through "A" school when they pick orders based on their class rankings. Those "C" schools are located in both Virginia and San Diego. The length of the schools varies based on what system he gets.

Tell him if his recruiters are promising him those schools to get them in writing, otherwise he is outta luck.

Training a dog?

My freind has a 7month jack russell terrior....she has tried everything to teach him not to chew up the couch, wires, trash, etc.

he also has a pee pad, he used to be good about peeing on it and recently, he hasnt been, and he wont poop on the pee pad, ever, nor does he give any indication to go outside when he needs to..

she usually shows him what he choowed/where he went to the restroom and then spank him and put him outside, however it isnt working b/c he continues to do it...

he knows hes doing bad b/c the moment we get back to the apt he rushes under the bed...

what sould we do?

Training a dog?
First, accept the fact that he's a puppy, and the behavior you describe is not unusual for puppies. Next, understand that a Jack Russel Terrier is a very, very high energy dog; and that the breed is a handful for experienced dog owners.

To solve the problems, start training the dog properly. That doesn't mean that a punishment or correction is offered every time the dog misbehaves. It means that the dog must be taught proper behavior even when he's not doing anything wrong. Enlist the help of a local obedience club. They can show you the proper techniques for teaching a dog proper behavior.

Good luck.
Reply:sounds like the little boy is getting restless and turning into a little man - have him fixed and start taking him to obedience class if your friend is at wits end. Some dogs just don't care about being spanked (especially the dominant ones) how often does she exercise him? jack russels are high energy dogs - if they don't burn out that energy they will get restless and destructive despite their size. when training dogs, they respond better to positive reinforcement (giving treats) rather than negative (hitting) this goes for humans and other animals too. You teach them an alternative behavior and reinforce that. Despite obedience training looks simple to some ppl- it takes a lot of focus for dogs that can not sit still. It helps train the mind.
Reply:If your friend is hitting/spanking her dog it is no wonder he is being problematic and running from her. What he needs is to go to dog training lessons.
Reply:Read up on crate training, and do it. The dog could not only tear up your things, but get hurt or sick doing it.
Reply:your friend shouldnt be hitting a dog first of all and hes probably acting out because he feel rejected if a dog doesnt feel loved or cared for he will continue to act out
Reply:First off, don't spank the dog. Hitting a dog does not teach the dog anything, if you don't catch them in the act they don't know why you are hitting them, it can create physical and emotional damage and can change the temperament of the dog.

When no one is home with the dog, he needs to be crated. A crate is not a punishment, it is the dog's personal space - their safety net. Dogs are den animals, and a crate will become their den. Make it a happy place, when you put the dog in the crate, give him a favorite toy and a cookie. Never use the crate for punishment.

Get rid of the pee pads - they only encourage the dog that it's okay to go inside the house. Instead, get the dog on a feeding and walking schedule. When you go outside, always go to the same area in the yard that will be his "potty place". Do not allow the dog to leave this area until he goes potty. When he does, a lot of praise, petting, and the occasional cookie.

as for the dog knowing, he does not relate the punishment to the problem. Dog's attention spans and memory are extremely short - they live for the moment. He is most likely running because he can sense the anger/mood in the people when they come in. That is why the punishment is not working. And showing the dog the problem does not relate - again, the dog does not realize what you are showing him is something he is responsible for.
Reply:It's a myth that dogs "know they did wrong" because they look guilty. They just know you're mad about something, and they're about to get it.

Dogs have like a 2-second recall. If you are going to punish or praise, if you don't do it within 2 seconds, you are wasting your time, because they don't know what you are talking about. ;) You basically have to catch them in the act.

When you catch him doing wrong, redirect him with something. Say he's chewing your shoes .. say "No!" and give him a toy that he can chew on.

If he pees/poops inside, and you catch him in the act, just startle him (don't hit him!) so that he stops, then pick him up and carry him outside.

He's smart, and he wants to please you. Really, he does.

Pick up some books from the bookstore or the library and read them. Learn a little about dog psychology. It helps to know how they think.

Look up "Jack Russel Terrier" and learn about the breed. Learn all you can about what they were bred to do.

Educate yourselves, and you will be better equipped to help him.

EDIT: ITA with the PPs on crating, exercise, and professional training.

Training to become an Ambulance Technician or Paramedic?

I understand that i need at least 5 GCSE's grade C or above. I left school before doing these and have only gained 2 since just by going and taking the tests (one is only a D the other a C) Can anyone tell me what courses i could do at home to make up the other 4. I can not afford childcare for my baby so can not go to college. I just really can't see me getting them in Geography or History or anything like that.

Training to become an Ambulance Technician or Paramedic?
Have a look at the Learn Direct site, you can get plenty of information from there.

Don't put yourself down - getting 2 GCSEs without having the pressure of going to college shows you've got determination!

If Learn Direct doesn't tell you verything you want to know, get an appointment with your local careers office (your local library can give you details)
Reply:If brown has his way every body leaving school will have to do 18 months in either, medical, fire or social services
Reply:some unis do online access courses, you could check around with your local unis/colleges.or try learn direct though they don't always list everything, if you ask your training provider for paramedic degree ( if thats what you are thinking about doing ) they will tell you what they will accept. there are also online gcse's where you just go out to sit the exams, I'm not sure how good these are though. NHS CAREERS website will give you plenty details. If you don't do more GCSE then asking your prospective college/uni/employer is the best thing to do as all places are different in what they accept for access /gcse alternatives
Reply:human biology, and as most services look for people not just wanting to drive using blues and twos it may be worth your while if you get a distance learning diploma in stress management and counsilling, you usually have 12 months on pts (patient transport service) wheelchair accesable transport, prior to being selected for training, just keep your fitness levels up but look into maths courses that do fractions as the test includes things like your doing a 200 mile trip using oxygen, one cylinder is half full, the 2nd is full, it takes x amount of time to travel to your destination and ur half full cylinder uses x amount of oxygen per minute, how many litres of oxygen will u use on your journey, oh and go to your nearest ambulance station and ask them to tell you the parts of an entinox cylinder, wen i did the test you had to label a diagram with all the parts of a cylinder, the as a bonus we had to strip one down and re-fit the sections. good luck, definately maths using decimals and fractions, and human biology.

URGENT! sociology major!! please help me answer some of these questions!!?

As a “graduate” of Soci 201, you should have acquired the ability to interpret and analyse occurrences in your day-to-day life through a sociological perspective. For example, you might experience any of the following over the course of a day in Calgary. FIVE of these vignettes will be on the exam. For each, BRIEFLY (in a sentence or two) discuss what you consider the most relevant insight from Soci 201 would be concerning it. 2 marks each; 10 marks total.

1. You turn on the morning news and see an interview with an organizer talking about a planned protest march against Canada's military presence in Afghanistan.

2. You stop for a coffee on the way to school and the coffee is a blend of Mexican and Guatemalan beans.

3. You say “hi” to a friend on the C-Train and your friend doesn’t return your greeting. This makes you quite angry.

4. You grab a discarded copy of the Calgary Sun and the front-page headline says, “ CRIME OUT OF CONTROL!”

5. A person sitting next to you sees you reading a paper with a crime-related headline and says, "you know, when it comes to crime, society is really to blame."

6. You go to the health centre to see a doctor about getting a flu shot and your doctor is a woman.

7. Your doctor seems annoyed when you ask about the possible dangers of a flu shot.

8. Your sociology professor starts his lecture by mentioning something that he and his (male) spouse did over the weekend, and somebody behind you whispers, “okay, we know you’re gay already, stop shoving it in our faces.”

9. You take an elevator to your next class on the 5th floor of social sciences and the elevator gets stuck for 30 minutes, with ten people in it. Somebody takes charge and uses a cell phone to call for help; another person tries to calm down a sociology professor who is having a panic attack.

10. You make it to Mac Hall for lunch and see a friend wearing a business suit. He says, "I've decided to start dressing the part now since I plan on being an executive some day."

11. You mention how attractive you find a fellow student and your friend says, "forget it, those parents would NEVER allow somebody like you into the family!"

12. On the way home, you take a call on your cell phone and notice that you are the only person in your C-Train car speaking English.

URGENT! sociology major!! please help me answer some of these questions!!?
OH BOY.

why didn't you just ask for help from someone else in the class?

good luck on the exam :)

let's hope Manzo was nice and asks easy questions =p

Does weight lifting/training/strength training stunt your growth?

I've been working out since June 2005. I'm 14 years old (15 in August), and in the year and three quarters since then, i have only grown between two and three inches...i am really worried b/c im only about 5'9" and b/c i play basketball, i kinda need to be a bit taller.

Does weight lifting/training/strength training stunt your growth?
No, lifting weights will not stunt growth. This is a myth propogated by people who only know what they've heard. Many professional bodybuilders and powerlifters started at a very young age and they are plenty tall enough.

Your height is determined primarily by genetics and there's little you can do about it unfortunately.
Reply:no, it doesn't...there never has been any medical evidence that shows otherwise.
Reply:I think i remember some1 telling me that, but i never knew if it was true

Sociology major!! please help me answer as many questions as u can.... thanks!!!!?

Sociology major!! please help me answer as many questions as u can.... thanks!!!!?
I'm tempted to do it but I've got my own paper to do. Next time, probably.

Complex TSQL - Reccommend some reading or training.?

I'm having problems at work. We're doing conversion from an old table schema to a new table schema, and we're doing it in an ASP application (application service provider, not the microsoft technology with the same name). So we're doing it for one facillity at at time. I need some resources to figure out how to write the more complex sql stuff. I know the bascis but we need to write code like this all day %26amp; i'm stumbling on it.

Its typically an insert with multiple subqueries, and corelated subqueries all in the same statement.

like

insert into xxx

(columns)

select xx, yy, zz,

(

select weird column from 3rd table

where a.xx = c.xx

and

yy = c.yy

and

zz = c.zz

)

from tbl_c c

where facilityid = @facilityid

etc...

Complex TSQL - Reccommend some reading or training.?
The best way of learning SQL is really understanding what you want to be doing, the psuedo code that you have there is all good, but sql is so simple to read that you can write the same thing in code and it is still perfectely readable. If you read one particular query and really break it down in your mind and understand exactly what it is that you want and how it is doing that you will find it easy to begin writing different queries. I find it easier to keep reminding myself that i am describing to the program which rows/columns to update/create/delete.

Good luck
Reply:That is quite complicated, you may also post your question at websites like http://askexpert.info/

I'm not a soc. major, but what an interesting question. My soc. prof. from college was a total lunatic. lol

They should have stopped when they were ahead...?

Okay, so I found a question. "Where is this quote from? That light at the end of the tunnel? That's not Heaven. That's the C Train!" It's from Daredevil, that's not my question. That quote sparked a chain of thought in my mind. That quote... has the potentiality to be a really cool quote... Up until he says "That's the C Train!"

To me, they ruined it. It turned from potentially cool to "Aw, lame."

My question to you is...

Do you have that same reaction to another movie, another quote? That "They should have stopped while they were ahead" reaction?

They should have stopped when they were ahead...?
A quote from the movie Batman Forever. Val Kilmer said it. "I've spent a lifetime protecting strangers I've never met." That sentence is quite possibly the most stupid bit of dialogue I've ever heard. If he had met these people before, they wouldn't be STRANGERS, now would they? So, in answer to your question, they should have said, "I've spent a lifetime protecting strangers," and left it at that. It would have been a valid point.
Reply:errr, sorry I dont know the answer to that, but you just sent me here because you only had 3 answers!!
Reply:"say hello to my little friend" the looks like it could get best answer.
Reply:I think the Daredevil quote is actually very good, or at least very fitting for that scene where he holds the guy down on the tracks.

Movies all ways use quotes that are either unnecessary or just stupid. like in M.I.3 when eathan climbs over a wall in the Vatican, he says "Humpty Dumpty sat on a wall." It's just plain stupid.

How does that not fall?

This is question I've been wondering for a while, I asked one engineer and he wasn't sure how the structure stayed up. In the City of Calgary in Alberta Canada, there is a system called the C-Train "Subway system above ground" and there are many of these Spiral Platforms with stairs on the otherside that go up to make an overpass to get onto the C-Train. Now the Spiral Ramp that goes up for the handi-cap and bikers, rollerbladers and skateboarders etc, how does it stay standing? when its made of Cement and has over 1000 people walking on it all the time during the day. There is only 4 cement beams on the inside of spiral ramp that the ramp is attached to, and the ramp is made of cement. And possibly rods, inside the the spiral ramp that are attached to the beams. May be a simple explaination to this, but I don't understand how the rods support a spiral staircase made of cement that goes up over 20 feet.

How does that not fall?
steel in the cement is very strong. Assuming the structure has a core where the support is based to provide a vertical support, the treads or stairs or walkway of the spiral is likely tied into a central core with structural steel tying bak into the center

Potty training nightmare!!?

My son is 4 and wont go poop on the potty. We have tried EVERYTHING to get him to use it! I laid off of him b/c I didn't want to stress him out. I am worried b/c school will start soon for him and I am afraid they wont let him go b/c of the potty issue. He goes pee in the potty but has a little accident here and there. What can I do, I am at the end of my rope on this one!!

Potty training nightmare!!?
I used the fruit snack, she got some when she went, or whatever your child likes to snack on....the hot wheels car idea above was a good one too.....

Then I had a party for her A "pee-Pee" party....she got new underwear and an gold medal! she loved that!
Reply:believe me i know exactly how you feel i tried everything he was within five months of starting school when he finally began to start pooping in the potty i think it is something that just have to click in their brain he will be six soon and still wets in the bed just about every night
Reply:Boys are much harder to potty train than girls for some reason. Maybe its because girls sit down to pee so if they need to go #2 than they are already there. My son is 7 and for some reason he will hold it to long sometimes even if he already went to the bathroom to pee he will all of a sudden have to go again in a hurry if you Know what I mean.Perhaps you could have him sit on the potty for a while and if nothing happens than try again in an hour or so . I hope this works for ya good luck.
Reply:I dont have kids of my own, but I've been around kids of all ages.. My little brother was a tough one to potty train.. They say that bribing doesnt help, but it helped him get potty trained quick.. We would keep a bowl of M%26amp;Ms or Skittles near the potty.. We would tell him if he went pee, he would get one piece of candy.. If he pooped, he would get 2.. If he did both, he got 3.. It worked like a charm.. Eventually he grew out of wanting something just for going potty.. But it helped to get him starting to go..
Reply:with my son the only thing that worked was smarties and letting him flush and spray air freshener (go figure on that one) when he got done going. Some people say getting the really cool "big kid" undieshelps, jest tell him he can only wear them if he keeps them clean and nice. Good Luck
Reply:Bribery, bribery, and more bribery.

I've been having major issues dealing with a night time potty issue my 4 1/2 yo daughter is experiencing. She was COMPLETELY potty trained by 3 1/2...suddenly she started wetting the bed and wouldn't stop. I tried EVERYTHING! and NOTHING worked.

At my wits end, I took her bike, outdoor play priveliges(at home as she plays all day at school), and would only let her play with educational toys @ home.

I then advised her that each day she wet the bed she would be on "baby" status that day. Baby Status=NO priveliges. I advised her that on days she didn't wet the bed she would be on "Big Girl Status". Big Girl Status=bike priveliges, outdoor play priveliges and some little extras.

Well, once she realized that treatment was MUCH better on big girl status, she shaped up QUICK! Occasionally we still have "baby" status days, but more often that not, it's Big Girl status that she EARNS!

Hope this has helped!

Good luck and I sincerely hope you find what works for your little guy!
Reply:MY son was 3 before he used the potty. I know what your saying I thought I was going to lose my mind. What finally worked, was we bribed him. Every time he went poop in the potty he got a hot wheels car. We gave him one every day for about 2 months. Then it became so nature to him he don't even realize that he is not getting a car. Good luck it will happen.
Reply:when my 2 yr old went poop for the first time we took him to the store and he picked out a toy that he wanted it and we kept telling him he got that toy for pooping in the potty and then on he's been doing it with out a toy but we are still telling him that he is doing a good job and how proud of him we are that helps

Can i rub up against ladies in the subway train?

while i'm on the C train i get sensation to just push my genitals up on a lovely lady nearby. 1. ain't nobody gonna do anything cuz i'm gonna deny it and 2. there so many people during rush hour, how she gonna really complain...

Can i rub up against ladies in the subway train?
If u look like your avitar then... NO!
Reply:If I catch you doing it to the ladies in my life your goin down!
Reply:There's a psychiatric (yep, diagnostic) term for this: frotteurism refers to a specific sexual disorder. It is a paraphilia that involves rubbing against another person to achieve sexual arousal or even orgasm, discreetly without being discovered, typically in a public place such as a crowded train, bus or subway. IT is, mind you, considered a mental illness... can you guess why, tho?

Guys who do this do get jacked up... but alas, they don't learn!

Reply:No, and you'll probably be castrated for doing it.
Reply:Right.

If you did that to me you'd get a swift kick to the groin and/or knees.
Reply:That is a pyschological problem actually -- its very disrespectful to women no matter how old they are and it is a form of sexual harrassment -- yes they can complain and if they catch on that your not simply bumping into them they will. And I can see that if you start doing this, it will lead to more serious problems like rape and etc.
Reply:One thing about it if I were on a train and you did that to me holly, tolly I would truly knock you on your *** like there's no tomorrow. So just know that if you try it look forward to getting knocked out anit no woman gonna take that and if she feels she can't do nothing at that moment she'll sick the 5.0 on your *** so think before you violate anyone.

Later.
Reply:Don't try that in this country. The lady might accidentally step on your foot, or elbow you in the gut, or ... you get the picture. "I'm sorry, the train hit a bump or something, and you were standing so close, it was an accident..."
Reply:no its not right .. its called sexual harassment and you will go to jail ..

To increase production output during the Industrial Revolution, businesses primarily invested in...?
B. machinery

At the outset, the change was from a 'cottage industry' where skilled worked by hand created products in the home, being supplied materials by their investor boss.

The machine that spins, or does anything else, creates far more output than the individual hand-worker could. But it also consolidates potentially illicit power into the hands of one or a few tsars of production; and it requires the legislature of a nation to think very seriously about non-fictional statements, value claims, working conditions, conditions of contract between investor and skilled workers, etc. None of this was done.

So while some retraining took place so workers hired (for whatever reason good or bad) could use the new machines, the main investment was in the machines themselves. The automation made by the output cheaper goods abundantly available fairly rapidly; But in the absence of curbs on overpopulation, government regulation of non-fictional utterance and governance of potentially-harmful corporate crimes, the situation that was bettered by the introduction of automation also saw the laying of the groundwork for the present anti-capitalist, anti-secular and anti=individualist practices of public interest elected and appointed tsars and their corporate and financial power-stealing tsarist cronies.

What does "enforced sampling", a technique in behavioral therapy, refer to?

Is it: a) unmotivated clients who think a reinforcer has no potency for them...b) Assisting unmotivated clients to develop target goals...c) training clients to assert themselves.

It is a question on a take home test, I have read all the lecture notes and it just isn't there.

What does "enforced sampling", a technique in behavioral therapy, refer to?
Perhaps it is the same as "reinforced sampling" , which you can find a good definition of on Wikipedia, just type in key word "reinforcement" its way on the bottom of the page, hope this helps, good luck!
Reply:"Enforced sampling" is the applied process of selecting a sample for testing or analyzing. I would choose "a" where your sampling would be "unmotivated clients who think a reinforcer has no potency for them...". ( "b" and "c" are not examples of sampling.)

Will the red-state, blue-state divide in America lead to a second civil war?

Will the strategic and military odds favor western and southern states the next time around? Keep in mind that the Liberal Eastern Establishment, including all Ivy League institutions of higher learning (if you can call them that), has eschewed military service, and even thrown R.O.T.C. training classes off their campuses. Consider how many soldiers from Western and Southern states now make up our military forces.

Will the red-state, blue-state divide in America lead to a second civil war?
No, because there is no such thing as a red state or a blue state.

These labels are media-imposed propaganda devices used to induce groupthink and political correctness.

Every state has liberals and conservatives, communists, socialists, libertarians, greens, and Constitutionalists. This nation is not rigidly divided into red or blue. There are very few straight party-ticket voters out there, because most people aren't that stupid.

If you vote a straight party ticket, then you haven't been paying attention.

Also, dividing us into "North" and "South" is another overly simplistic generalization with little practical reasoning. The only major divide is between middle America and the coastal states. Even then, the contrast is noticeable only in the biggest, populous cities, like The People's Republic of New York, or the Bohemian colony of San Francisco (now a wholly owned subsidiary of North Mexico).

Other than those two extremes, most of the country still has sanity and acceptance of differing viewpoints.

Reply:Maybe. We do seem somewhat divided, don't we? Too bad the liberals don't get the fact that their incessant permissiveness breeds misconduct of all sorts and their kids grow up to be spoiled brats who want everything handed to them on a silver platter. Perhaps a verbal civil war would be in order. Nahh, they just need a good spanking.
Reply:No not war but i can predict a lot of political battles in the future. this country needs to get its head out of its *** and start thinking of all the sacrifices that were made. kick all the liberals out and we might have a decent country.

Reply:as much as it angers me to see a dummicrat I am not to the point I want to kill them YET.lol tomorrow is another day.but I would fight them if they continue to try to undermine this great nation
Reply:I a agree (mostly) with askthepizzaguy...with some reservations, most of the "blue" areas are urban, while many of the "red" areas are rural or suburban...if you look at the voting recods by county of the last national general election you will see this trend. Even in NY, Mass and CA the heavily urban areas voted Democratic, while the less urban areas went Republican. These labels were coined, in my opinion by the media to simplify things for the mass of Americans.

I firmly believe that we should adopt a similar system as Australia where you are fined for not voting...but then we should move poling days to Sunday as that day is the least "worked" day of most of America...that'll never happen, but I think it would be a good idea.

Anyone here work for the U.S. Postal Service?

i'm thinking about applying for a U.S. postal service. i've been doing some research regarding the various postal exams.

any advice/suggestions?

i've bought two study guides; one is called "complete postal exam 473 %26amp; 473-C Training Program" and the other "Norman Hall's Postal Exam Preparation Book" includes " all major exams".

i just feel kinda overwhelmed. do i take the 473 because the majority of postal jobs require this test? or do i take the 460? or should i take both? what jobs are you eligible when you take the 473? what jobs are you eligible when you take the 460? in the study guides the practice test all looked the same.

Anyone here work for the U.S. Postal Service?
I would take both tests. Your name goes onto a register that is used to hire new employees from. It stays on for 2 years, but you can file to extend it for 3 years.

I think the city carrier job is the better job. The union is stronger, so better benefits. Also, you use a postal vehicle, not your own. Not sure about pay, but there is more OT in city carrier craft.
Reply:Well my dad works for the USPS. He didnt even study though when he took the exam. It was a few months after I was born and he needed to start making more money and started applying for random jobs. He just showed up, took the test and passed! Still works there today. And by the way you can always change your position as you are an employee. He has worked in the actual post office, mail carrier and as a parcel carrier.

Good Luck!
Reply:It depends on what is being offered in your city. Some big cities need city carriers and if you are in a country area they need rural carriers. I took both tests they are pretty much the same the city one is more intense. I would take both most city carrier jobs are scarce these days they need more rural carriers.
Reply:the only thing i can suggest is getting another job
Reply:I would call the post office near you and ask them. but if I had to guess... read the 460, because you live in a very busy city.

To increase production outout during the Industrial Revolution, businesses primarily invested in?
B. Machinery. This was a time period where machinery was starting to take the place of workers.

Marketing wasn't around yet. Most jobs involved very little skill, so there wasn't a need for training, and since jobs required very little skill, they were consequently low paying jobs.
Reply:Output = faster, better production methods. Therefore, machinery. Workers were easily replaced. Marketing came later. Assembly line type work needed little or no skills.

Is MS-DOS available for Windows XP?

I'm trying to complete a task from a C++ training book, the image in the book has a ms-dos window with MS-DOS C:\WINNT\System32\CMD.exe on the very top but when I try to open a commnad window in windows xp the only thing that appears on top is COMMAND PROMPT. The book also tells me to type in bcc32 but when I do the Command propt tells me "bcc32" is not recognized as an internal or external command, operable program or batch file. Wat can I do? please help...

Is MS-DOS available for Windows XP?
Microsoft took out MS-DOS with Windows XP - it doesn't exist anymore. You can still do some command line stuff in the command prompt window but it doesn't have MS-DOS behind it anymore.

You don't need MS-DOS to do C++ programming, but I think you need a more up-to-date programming book first!
Reply:yes but you'll need help

try best buy or ask the geek squad
Reply:click on 'START' and choose run

type CMD into the open: line and click OK

that will give you the c:\windows\system32\cmd thing at the top.

I don't know about the bcc32 thing.

Where you supposed to save something as bcc32.cmd somewhere in the training book before this.

=====================================

Actually now that I think about it.

Is the book teaching you Borland C++

I think that the command is to start the 'Borland C Compiler' for 32 bit systems.

Do you even have a C compiler installed?
Reply:you must specify the directory in CMD wher e to that file then enter the name of file that you wish to start lik in this case bcc32...
Reply:No , Mico Soft has dis continued M DOS
Reply:hit the windows key + r will give you the run box. or goto start and click run in the run box type cmd. that will pull up the the command prompt. I also looked up the bcc32 and I get that it is the Borland C compiler. If you dont have that then go search and download it. To point out the ms-dos prompt still exist in windows xp. the command prompt is the ms-dos prompt. When windows first started all the way back to windows 3.1 the dos prompt was changed to MS-DOS prompt. the ms-dos stands for microsoft disk operating system. It is actually believe be that the ms was added so microsoft would not get in trouble for copywright infringement.
Reply:is your book published in like 1998? The ms-dos complier was taken out of xp. Use another compiler like borland or swtich to linux
Reply:no.. i typed out a real good answer, and then my browser crashed, so you get the short version.

CMD inside xp is not true DOS, and xp will not let you run actual dos, because of version conflicts.

sorry.
Reply:The Command Prompt is like a Dos emulator. It's because I believe Windows stopped being based on the Dos platform...
Reply:CMD is not MS-DOS, but it still retains many of the same commands. There are DOS emulators available though. DOSBox in particular comes to mind.

bcc32 should work in the command prompt (assuming you have it installed), but it is not good for beginners. You may want to try Bloodshed's Dev-C++.
Reply:they often hide the disk operating system [dos] in a folder called OLDDOS

good luck
Reply:No, but like the guy above me said, CMD aka Command Prompt is the closest thing to dos you can get now-adays unless you decide to install dos on your computer which i highly disadvise because you wont be able to use it for much and its slow and old and you wont get drivers but if you wana run that program from the cmd then you go to your IDE or the program that came with the cd's directory whcih you can do by going to start menu%26gt;all programs%26gt;name of the program%26gt;program and right click on it and click properties then click find target then look for bcc32 and copy it to %SYSTERMDRIVE%\system32 and you can run it from the cmd

Can pepper spray really cause a fire when used with electronic enabling devices?

I have attended two o.c. training sessions where the instructors expressed to us that o.c.+ tasers= fire.

But then on our cans of Saber Red it says "Non-flamable. Electronic Immoblization Device Compatible."

Has anyone seen a fire caused by o.c., or have any video?

Can pepper spray really cause a fire when used with electronic enabling devices?
Isopropyl alcohol is flammable and one of the propellants used. Given the right conditions a "mist" of that can be ignited by a spark. (remember the MJ on fire incident)

Some of the most stringent procedures are used in the electrical codes in dusty environments (grain silo's as an example) as many organic dusts are very flammable.

In gas stations even the low voltage conduits are plugged with a "dam" device that is first stuffed with cotton then topped off with an epoxy to fill the pipe to keep vapors from reaching a spark from inside.

Hospitals and dentists have problems with oxygen and "laughing gas". They too have special devices to keep sparks from switches contained.

I went to a few seminars put on by the NFPA (National Fire Protection Association) while preparing for the sale of Fire Alarm panels. They write the National guidelines used for the Electrical Code. Learned more than I already knew. Have seen a lit cigarette set off gas fumes from a can 10 ft away on a hot day.

Sounds like your instructor is a smart guy/gal.
Reply:The O.C. itself isn't flammable. It's the propellant that spits it there that can flare up on you. It's the same principle as cooking spray, hair spray, etc.
Reply:Try it out and let us know
Reply:It depends on the OC, if the carrier agent is alcohol then there is always the possibility.
Reply:I'd believe what it says on the cans %26amp; not your instructors.
Reply:There are alcohol based Pepper sprays and water based pepper sprays - he's probably referring to the alcohol based ones.
Reply:I would believe the can and not your oc.
Reply:If the "pepper spray" contains any alcohol in it, yes, it will cause a fire. ( it's not pretty)
Reply:Why would you need to taze and spray at the same time? You might as well shoot those poor criminals.

I need help on a book review...I have never done one...please read.?

This is my first semester of college and my reading instructor wants us to read a non-fiction book and write a book review. I have read the book already. But I have never done a book review....even in high school. Please read the following and help my step by step. The outline she gave us reads as follows:

Introduction

1) title

2) type of book

3) year published

4) publisher and publisher's location

5) thesis

6) purpose

7) writer's credentials

(a) experience

(b) education

(c) training

Analysis and Evalution

(b) research

(c) personal experience

(d) observation

2) organization

I need help on a book review...I have never done one...please read.?
Analysis and Evalution

1) information and evidence

(a) interviewing

(b) research

(c) personal experience

(d) observation

How does the author prove his thesis? Is he citing otherr books, did he interview people, was the book about his personal experience, did he go and observe people?

2) organization

(a) chronological

(b) flashbacks

(c) unrelated vignettes or stories

(d) table of contents, index, appendices

How are the chapters organized? Does the book tell a story or is it more informative. For instance,a book about eating disorders could be told in chapters about different eating disorders. 1. anorexia nervosa 2. bulima nervousa 2. compulsive over eating disorder 2. compulsive over exercising disorder and so on and so forth. Or the story could be about the authors own journey with her/his eating disorder.

3) readability

(a) vocabulary

(b) illustrations

(c) complexity of sentences

Did you have to read the book with a dictionary?

Value

1) society

2) individual

3) recommendation

How does the book help society, how did it help you, did your opinion change on the topic, did you learn anything? Would you recommend the book and to who and why?

I hope this helps! I am just kind of assuming a lot of these, if you're still confused about everything you might want to talk to your professor after class or schedule an appointment or even email the prof.

Fight on Train this morning.....?

I am so embarrassed. This morning my husband and I got on the C train (crowded). I sat while he stood. He must have accidently bumped this females hand while she was holding the pole because she started huffing and puffing; smacking her teeth and mumbling words under her breath. I didn't say anything because I thought the whole thing was stupid (it was an accident). Well.....right when me and my husband were getting off the train.....she called me a *****. Before you knew it I had started choking and beating the crap out of her.

My husband has never seen me fight before. I am so ashamed. I wanted to always be a lady in his eyes but this morning I showed him a side he has never seen before. He didn't say anything about the fight after we got off the train.

So my question is: Do you think my husband is upset with me because I had behaved far from what you would call a lady or do you think it was nothing (something he isn't thinking about).

Fight on Train this morning.....?
You go girl. People need to learn to keep their mouths shut.

Don't be ashamed. Your husband will still love you. It will depend on his background and beliefs as to if he will be upset with you. You didn't behave like a lady but you also were not in a lady like situation. If it was a one time thing where you just blew up, don't worry about it. However, if you feel like you have a lot of supressed anger, talk to your husband about it and get help.

Really, don't worry about it. A good marriage can easily weather you kicking someone's butt.
Reply:You're Husband probably did not no how to react, to your scuffle at the moment. If it bothered him he would have probably said something to you right then. Just talk to him about it and how he felt. Communication is key , let him know that it was spontainious and that it is not commonplace for you to fight with other women. Show him that you are lady, but can kick some A** when the time comes.
Reply:How am I supposed to know ? ask him...
Reply:ask him, not us

gl
Reply:I think your husband may be thinking about it but we all have our breaking point. You can always talk to him and bring it up as a light conversation like "Wow can believe me this morning, it seems like a crazy dream, I guess I had no idea how stressed I have been feeling lately"
Reply:You are a 10.
Reply:Wow, I definately think you overreated big time on that one. I think your husband was probably pretty embarrassed by the whole thing. I would just talk to him when you get home tonight and explain why you reacted the way you did. And if you feel horrible about the whole thing, make sure you apologize to him for it. Usually that's all it takes. Good luck!
Reply:You're right the whole matter was very stupid. You would have been a bigger person by turning your back on her, and walking away. Now had SHE touched YOU, then you had the perfect right to beat the $hit out of her...and walk away proud!

One is not supposed to START something....But rather FINISH it.
Reply:Don't worry.he must be proud of you.

you are a well balanced lady
Reply:He probably thought it was kind of hot to see you get all Rambo on her a**.
Reply:He may not be thinking about it. If he is, he is probably going to wait until a better time to talk to you about it. Next time just let it go. Words may bother us but they can't hurt you physically. What if this woman tries to press charges. There are plenty of people who saw the fight. You should turn the other cheek. If you would've just walked away, she would've been left there looking stupid.
Reply:so do grown up people also fight to? dam i cant wait to be old!
Reply:HAHAHAH girl you was on it, its ok things happen.
Reply:The important information you left out would be his reaction to this, how did he act after the event, what did he say when you got home?

Sometimes you just gotta beat a b*tch azz, thats just the way it is, he should certainly understand. ☼
Reply:He didn't say anything because it was an unexpected incident that caught him by surprise. He probably didn't know what to say but might later.

Anyway, if it's just this one incident I bet it goes down as a charming story about you. If he's unsure about it then you have to decide if you are going to tell him "about that side of you" or if you want to just reassure him that it was an isolated incident. In the long run honesty is best.
Reply:Human nature, its happens.. and well to tell the truth, its kinda attractive for such a proper woman to soil her oats now and again.
Reply:can`t we all just get along ...
Reply:Eh, let it go. He probably was ruiting you on!
Reply:I don't believe you should be hiding part of your personality from your husband. That being said, perhaps you should look into anger management help.
Reply:I don't think he was ashamed. He might have been taken aback becuse he hasn't seen that side of you before. I would be proud of you.
Reply:He was probrably just a little shocked at that from you. Or maybe he was thinking some clothes are going to get ripped? Seriously, a lady calls you a name and you assualt her physically? That is what your man was most likely thinking. I doubt this happened as you said it did, because if it did you should have been arrested for assualt and battery.

You need some anger management courses dear if that is all it takes to set you off.
Reply:if my wife did that, i would worship her every morning, every afternoon, and every night.
Reply:I wouldn't worry about it....but I hope you smacked her hard!
Reply:I think you are lucky you didn't get arrested.
Reply:Hes probably proud of you.
Reply:i could see him being embarrassed for you not being lady like if this was the 19th century... talk to him about it. I'm sure this will become a joke when you reminisce about it...
Reply:yes
Reply:He probably won't say anything because you stood up for yourself. NICE JOB!!!!!!!! Don't worry about it. You did good!
Reply:"Well.....right when me and my husband were getting off the train.....she called me a *****. Before you knew it I had started choking and beating the crap out of her. "

Well that was pretty stupid of you. Have you considered anger management classes?

Geeze, if you start choking someone for something as stupid as calling you a name, I'm surprised you haven't been arrested yet.

If I were him, I'd probably be wondering "What the hell did she overreact like that for?!?"
Reply:id say talk to him about it. he loves you, obviously you are married and has to love you no matter what. tell him how you feel about it and im sure he will understand.
Reply:Lady, (and I say that loosely) - NEVER, EVER fight 'for' your husband. You should have let him handle it, however he thought best. You demeaned him by your actions, and now he feels less of a man.

I understand the first 4 (they are simple) but the rest is foriegn to me. Thanks in advance for taking the time to help me ;-)

Book review...I need help...I have never done one...please read.?
After 4, you should have read the book and able to write a thesis on this. Don't be stressed out with this review. It's scary, I know. Read the book, and you will be able to understand what analysis, evalution blah..blah..they are asking. Trust me, I have problems with that too. I was scared stiff but after I read the book assigned to me and finally realised what those interviewing , chronological, readability..blah and blah..meant. No sweat, so easy! Read now! You will flow in easily and it's not that bad, really.
