My son is 4 and wont go poop on the potty. We have tried EVERYTHING to get him to use it! I laid off of him b/c I didn't want to stress him out. I am worried b/c school will start soon for him and I am afraid they wont let him go b/c of the potty issue. He goes pee in the potty but has a little accident here and there. What can I do, I am at the end of my rope on this one!!
Potty training nightmare!!?
I used the fruit snack, she got some when she went, or whatever your child likes to snack on....the hot wheels car idea above was a good one too.....
Then I had a party for her A "pee-Pee" party....she got new underwear and an gold medal! she loved that!
Reply:believe me i know exactly how you feel i tried everything he was within five months of starting school when he finally began to start pooping in the potty i think it is something that just have to click in their brain he will be six soon and still wets in the bed just about every night
Reply:Boys are much harder to potty train than girls for some reason. Maybe its because girls sit down to pee so if they need to go #2 than they are already there. My son is 7 and for some reason he will hold it to long sometimes even if he already went to the bathroom to pee he will all of a sudden have to go again in a hurry if you Know what I mean.Perhaps you could have him sit on the potty for a while and if nothing happens than try again in an hour or so . I hope this works for ya good luck.
Reply:I dont have kids of my own, but I've been around kids of all ages.. My little brother was a tough one to potty train.. They say that bribing doesnt help, but it helped him get potty trained quick.. We would keep a bowl of M%26amp;Ms or Skittles near the potty.. We would tell him if he went pee, he would get one piece of candy.. If he pooped, he would get 2.. If he did both, he got 3.. It worked like a charm.. Eventually he grew out of wanting something just for going potty.. But it helped to get him starting to go..
Reply:with my son the only thing that worked was smarties and letting him flush and spray air freshener (go figure on that one) when he got done going. Some people say getting the really cool "big kid" undieshelps, jest tell him he can only wear them if he keeps them clean and nice. Good Luck
Reply:Bribery, bribery, and more bribery.
I've been having major issues dealing with a night time potty issue my 4 1/2 yo daughter is experiencing. She was COMPLETELY potty trained by 3 1/2...suddenly she started wetting the bed and wouldn't stop. I tried EVERYTHING! and NOTHING worked.
At my wits end, I took her bike, outdoor play priveliges(at home as she plays all day at school), and would only let her play with educational toys @ home.
I then advised her that each day she wet the bed she would be on "baby" status that day. Baby Status=NO priveliges. I advised her that on days she didn't wet the bed she would be on "Big Girl Status". Big Girl Status=bike priveliges, outdoor play priveliges and some little extras.
Well, once she realized that treatment was MUCH better on big girl status, she shaped up QUICK! Occasionally we still have "baby" status days, but more often that not, it's Big Girl status that she EARNS!
Hope this has helped!
Good luck and I sincerely hope you find what works for your little guy!
Reply:MY son was 3 before he used the potty. I know what your saying I thought I was going to lose my mind. What finally worked, was we bribed him. Every time he went poop in the potty he got a hot wheels car. We gave him one every day for about 2 months. Then it became so nature to him he don't even realize that he is not getting a car. Good luck it will happen.
Reply:when my 2 yr old went poop for the first time we took him to the store and he picked out a toy that he wanted it and we kept telling him he got that toy for pooping in the potty and then on he's been doing it with out a toy but we are still telling him that he is doing a good job and how proud of him we are that helps
