Is it possible to get a train from London that goes directly yo the N.E.C. in Birmingham?

I want to visit the Crafts for Christmas/Hobby Crafts Exihibition

Is it possible to get a train from London that goes directly yo the N.E.C. in Birmingham?
Yes very easy checkout

www.nationalrail.co.uk

for prices and times takes about 1 1/2 hours on the fast trains
Reply:ye cors but dnt kno what train tho but it duz definately :)
Reply:yes
Reply:yes but i would rather insert needles into my eyes than go N E C. dont bother!
Reply:I would think so try train tracker its good or national railway enquires if still unsure
Reply:Yes, from Euston. Look for Birmingham International.
Reply:I believe Birmingham International is adjacent to the N.E.C. You'd need to catch a train from Euston Station.
Reply:yo can catch a train to Birmingham international rail station, that is next door to the nec about 5-10 min walk and it is all covered

as for going direct i ent to sure about that, more than likely you should be able to but if you had to change it would probably be in Birmingham itself either new street, moor street or snow hill station
Reply:Yes you can get a train from Euston to the NEC Brimingham (well the station you get off is called Birmingham International, but its the same place).

The train that you need to catch is the one that goes to Birminham New Street or Wolverhampton, and I think that there is one running every 30 minutes to 40 minutes throughout the day.

A one day long site seeing in Washington D.C.?

Are there any festivals or carnivals in D.C? Me and my girlfriend are going to be there on Wednesday June 6th. We're from Chicago so we're comfortable with public transportation. Also we've been in White House area before and this time trying to have a different experience. No museum suggestions please. And one more thing. Is there any area at Dulles airport that we can leave our luggage's for few hours? If not, do you know any place in the city area, like a train station or some where like that that has public locker? Also who know how we can get to Centreville,VA from Dulles or city center?

A one day long site seeing in Washington D.C.?
Someone pointed out that you are bit too early for the big festival in Washington, DC - that is the Smithsonian Folklife Festival. And the Silverdocs film festival is the next week, you're a week early for that.

So given that , what to do that is not museum-y or White House-esque. There is an awful lot, actually.

My first recommendation is to make it to a neighborhood and explore. Some of the best that come to mind are Adams Morgan, where you can check out the murals, have a great meal and if you are there late enough, catch some great music. In addition there are a number of international boutiques to pick up a few goodies at! You can get there by getting off Metro at the Woodley Park/Zoo station and going over the Duke Ellington Bridge then down to Colunbia and 18th street. Head down 18th Street and then back west on T street into the area of Adams Morgan. This is another great area for quirky shopping and good eating, and you can sit in the circle and use wireless internet for free!

Another option is to visit the U-Street and Shaw neighborhood, a historically black neighborhood that was the "Black Broadway" in the 20's and was the home of black luminaries like Duke Ellington and others. You can eat at Ben's Chili Bowl, visit the clubs, and check out the Ellington Mural. A bit north on U Street from the U Street Cardozo African American Civil War Memorial is an area with a number of Beaux Arts Mansions. To the west of that is a great park. I can't remember the name of it right now.

Another option is to visit Georgetown, the oldest area, and check out shopping, the C and O Canal, rent bikes to ride, or a canoe/kayak to float on the Potomac.

I know you said no museums, but I'd like to suggest that the Spy Museum is a great deal of fun, and has a new interactive area much like a live action role playing game, but with a spy theme. It's practically a carnival fun house!

If you like the memorials and all, you could check them out - they are on the mall, largely, from the Washington Monument to the Lincoln Memorial. South of the Lincoln Memorial on the mall is the FDR Memorial on the Tidal Basin, and there, on the other side, is the Jefferson Memorial. Better, maybe to rent a paddleboat from the boat house near the Jefferson Memroial, and paddle on the tidal basin for an hour?

There is a left luggage facility in Union Station - it's on the train level. I don't know if they will let you leave the luggage if you are not taking a train somewhere however.

Dulles to DC is doable via public transport - you have to take the Washington Flyer Bus to the West Falls Church Metro Station, then get on the orange line toward New Carrollton to get downtown. The bus costs, I think, $8 each way, and the metro to downtown will run between about $2 to $4 depending on the day of the week and time of Day.

Centerville is harder, but not impossible. I don't know where you want to go in Centerville, but the 12 series of busses (Centerville North and Centerville South) go out there. You take the orange line to the end of the line in Vienna, then get on the bus out to Centerville. I don't know which line you'd want to take, but this bus schedule should help.
Reply:i am from DC area, willing to be a tour guide
Reply:You are visiting a month earlier than one of the big festivals on the mall in DC, which is around 4th of July and includes a big arts and crafts fair and the fireworks over the river, which is probably the best Independence Day fireworks show in the US.

Unfortunately, unlike Reagan, Dulles is not that well connected to the city from a public transportation standpoint -- it isn't linked into the Metro system (DC's subway), so your best bet is to rent a car or find a friend in the area. Dulles is about 10 miles due north of Centreville (I think the road is route 28 that goes between the two.) Once you get to Centreville, you have two easy ways into the city -- you are right on I-66 which takes you straight into downtown by car, or you can take the Metro rail system, which is very safe, clean and relatively inexpensive.

Don't believe there is any public storage available at Dulles airport for luggage, although you might check with your airline, as they may be able to accomodate you.

Want to go sight see in D.C tomorrow with my 1month old and want to take the train?

How does it work taking a baby on a commuter train? Do I just carry him or keep him in a car seat or can I bring the stoller with us and keep him in there? Also would I have to pay for an extra ticket or is he so young it would be free?

Want to go sight see in D.C tomorrow with my 1month old and want to take the train?
Kids under 3 usually free, use a stroller %26amp; keep him in the area with you - ask conductor - they can direct you to bigger seating place for you %26amp; kids
Reply:in dc it might be too crowded for the stoller and carrying him you might get tired maybe if you find a really small stoller that wont get in the way and no i dont think you have to buy a ticket for him because when you put it throught the door goes up and just push him through. have fun!
Reply:Oh man, must you? He's awfully young to be exposed to that many people in such a close setting - his immune system isn't really primed enough to handle that, not to mention he'll probably be VERY overstimulated by the end of the trip. I know society has gotten into the habit of bouncing babies right out into the world as soon as they're born, but doctors really don't recommend it.

(SYDNEY)Directions to Railway Square, George St Stand C?

Okay. I desperately need directions to Railway Square, George St Stand C. I need to catch the 422 bus to Newtown theatre.

1) How do i get there? E.g. If i got off from town hall station, where would i be able to find it?

2) Is Town Hall station even the closest train station to railway square?

Thank you so much!

(SYDNEY)Directions to Railway Square, George St Stand C?
Railway square is outside of central station on a busy intersection with lots of cross roads, george st. one of them.
Reply:Get off the train at Central station heading for the Devonshire st Exit and walk along the Tunnel to Railway Sq/George St exit. The Bus stands are right there and you should find a ticket seller who can tell where the 422 leaves from
Reply:The website below is my favourite for navigating around the city.
Reply:Get off at Central. Go up to the platforms where the country trains are (there's Burger King, Newsagent etc)

Ask someone to point you to the XPT trains office and the exit you need outta Central is on the very right of the office.

Then walk left for several hundred metres and you'll come across Railway Square.
Reply:You can walk to Railway Square down George Street from Town Hall in a few minutes, although as niknah says, it is actually right outside Central station. It's well signposted from inside Central, or just ask any commuter you see how to get there. The bus stands are all together, they are marked very clearly and they're under a big glass and steel shelter - you can't miss them.

Cant find a job at night (Washington, D.C.)?

I am currently a fighter by day, i train, work-out all during day hours. I would like to find a job in the d.c. metro area with night work hours (8pm and later), can anybody help me please? Doesent have to be high paying, just a simple warehouse job or some sort of thing like that. Full or part time doesent matter, will be thankful for any help.

Cant find a job at night (Washington, D.C.)?
I live in the Washington, DC metro area and you should not have much trouble finding a night job and I know that because I work at night. Try Monster.com, CareerBuilder.com, HotJobs.com, WashingtonPost.com and Craigslist.org are just some of the places where you could start. Also, Verizon is hiring right now for different shifts in Falls Church, VA (the metro runs out there) for a lot of different positions and they pay well. Also, don't forget about the old-fashioned newspaper. Sunday's Washington Post has always been a great place to look. Also, look in the newspaper in the employment section or check online for the locations of temporary and regular employment agencies -- as many as you can. There are many "temp to perm" positions where you start as a temp and, if all goes well, you can convert to a permanent position. You can find out information about evening/night positions through these agencies.

Also, if you are trying to make the job search a quick one, make sure you have a resume and a cover ready to make your search 20x easier. No matter what your work history has been, it is always best to have a resume. It also helps to make you appear professional and seriously ready to begin a job.

Feel free to e-mail if you have any questions.

Biking from Ontario to B.C.?

May 1st im planning to take my bake and pedal my butt from Ottawa, Ont. to Prince George, B.C. to visit my girl!!

I've never done a big trip, but I am going to use this time until then to train myself for every situation possible and condition my body....

I was wondering if anyone could give me suggestions about which route i should take?

How long it would take if im not really stopping in any one place for long and probably riding most the day?

What situations I should look out for?

Annnddd... the cost? btw bringing a tent and sleeping bags.

Biking from Ontario to B.C.?
you should be able to do 100kms per day with out much problem. you do have to know that the wind blows out of the west and you will have a head wind to ride into all the way across the prairies and trust me when i say it really blows at times. take the Yellowhead Route as it goes through Edmonton and straight through Jasper then on to Prince George. you will want to stop in Edmonton and get some pepper spray because the number of bears (black and grizzly) is like pigeons in central park. another worry is cow moose. that time of the year they will have young with them and they are more vicious than a solitary bear. i have watched a cow moose total a jeep with it's front hooves in a matter of minutes. also don't count on making a lot of distance in the mountains because of the lower density of oxygen in the air because of the elevation. there are a lot of places that cell phones don't work west of Edmonton either because of ore bodies in the mountains or there is no infrastructure in place to make a cell work.

i work all over the prairie provinces on pipeline projects so know what to expect out there but i live in the BC interior and hunt moose yearly out of Prince George and i know that area very well.

have a blast but be careful. it sounds like an amazing trip but there are many hazards to be aware of.

oh ya. forgot to tell you that a blizzard can happen anytime of the year up there so warm light weight clothing will be a real bonus. i would not pick that up until i hit Edmonton. by then you should be fit enough to carry a few extra pounds.

oh ya. wolves! there are a ton of them from the BC Alberta border all the way to your destination. after your first night in the mountains you will understand what it feels like to be alone. they will keep you awake at night with the calls they make. once you figure out they are not hunting you, you can relax and enjoy it. kinda like a moonlight concert for your benefit. makes me smile every time i think about the haunting sounds they make.
Reply:I'd say talk to as many "veterans" of same or similar experiences AT LENGTH, then you may decide it's not your cup of tea.

Heard about the guy who recently circled the globe --walking, paddling, etc--took him 13 years!!

He PADDLED across the Pacific Ocean!! Whadda guy...
Reply:UUUUmmmm....So almost 4000 clicks? And the last bit uphill? 4 or 5 months, maybe?

Take the T-Can, and hope she REALLY appreciates it.
Reply:mik2222001 is right....It's a loooooooooooooooooong long trip 'bout 4,200km 'n it would take 42 days if you ride 100km per day....so you think you can do that? annnnd the cost would be like $500 (if you spend apprx $10 per day for food 'n beverages) good luck
Reply:Watch out in Manitoba they have a bunch of rednecks that will throw beer bottles at you
Reply:Whoah, it's going to take u quite a few days to bike to B.C, i highly recommend u don't bike there, you could get de-hydrated easily, due to the LONG distance to bike to. I recommend u try driving or take a plane there. Plus, it's winter which means snow and ice, which means u can very easily break a bone or serisouly injure urself. So for ur safety, pls don't bike to BC from Ontario. Drive there or take a plane to there.
Reply:It can take anywhere from two-four months depending on your skill level. Best to research it first and try to go with at least one other person for safety's sake.

I wish I could make that trip...maybe someday, but my butt aches just at the thought of it.

I'll be going to D.C. tomorrow. I wanted to know what "gay" stores/activities/etc. there is to do over there?

Okay so me and my straight female friends are going to D.C. tomorrow for a "gay day." We're bored and there's no classes. We'll be going from Baltimore.

I've heard of Dupont circle but how do you get there if you're taking the MArC train?

I've heard that there are glbt specific estores (i.e. lambda rising). Does anyone knwo of any otheres liek apparel stores, etc.

I'd liek to make this a fun trip so if you know about what to do for a good "gay day" please let me know. We won't be there for the night life tomorrow so unless the clubs are open from 10am - 5pm...it probably won't be the best thing haha. Also ,any plac where you can meet other memmbers of the glbt sommunity would be nice to know of.

Thank you!

Why would you want to have a gay day if you are not one? Just curious ...

How many of you think that a special bogie with A/C and individual seating like an A.C. Chair car be attached?

to mumbai's local trains during peak hours? Wouldn't that be great for executives who have to travel in the shitty so called 1st class compartment of local trains? Also they should charge at least 3 times of the monthly season ticket pass for the special A.C. chair car compartment? this will help to filter out the ****?

How many of you think that a special bogie with A/C and individual seating like an A.C. Chair car be attached?
They should rather charge the normal rate that they charge for an Ac chair car but anyways it would be just too inconvenient fpr fat execitives to get on and off a train in 30 secs flat

Interrailing in Zone C (DK, D, CH and AU) - Good rough itinerary?

Going interrailing in the next few months to Zone C (Denmark, Germany, Switzerland and Austria), can anyone suggest a good (rough) itinerary? We want to go to the obvious big three cities, Copenhagen, Berlin and Vienna, but also some places off the beaten track too. Last time I went (Zone E, France and Benelux) there was no real plan as such, which was good, but I think we missed out a bit on the smaller places because we wouldn't really of known where to go and we were pushed for time.

My idea so far is to start by getting the ferry from Harwich to Esjberg, and working our way down to Geneva and getting the train back home from there (or opposite route). Don't want to fly.

So the question is.... where should we stop at on our way from Esjberg to Geneva?!

Interrailing in Zone C (DK, D, CH and AU) - Good rough itinerary?
ok,

For Switzerland, you absolutely MUST vist Interluken - it's a beautiful town in the mountains with fantastic walks, brilliant scenery...

For Austria, I'd suggest a trip to Salzburg, where Mozart was born, and the Sound of Music was filmed.

For Germany, make sure you visit Dresden for a day opr two on your trip to Berlin

Hope this helps

Reply:Stop in Ribe southern bit of Jutland, Denmark. There a beautiful cathedral there and its just a really pretty town at night time. I don't know why more foreigners don't go there as it's really nice.

After a D&C?

I just had my first d%26amp;C yesterday (after a miscarriage) I have very little bleeding and some cramping. (nothing that the pains pills don't take care of) But, I feel like I have been hit by a train! Every muscles in my body hurts! And mainly my neck. That was the first pain I felt when I woke up in the recovery room. Even my arms hurt..........has anyone else had this happen to them? Or I would love any thoughts and advice that you my have.

After a D%26amp;C?
This could be emotinal induced pain due to the stress on your body because of the loss of the baby. My sympathy as well to you. It is hard and your emotional state can make your body ache terribly, talk to the doctors your body is trying to adjust to the trauma of the loss as well as your emotions.. the combination could just be making you ache.

I was sore after my d %26amp; c it was in my back and shoulders ...

let the doc's know what is going on ..

I am sorry for the loss....

keep your chin up!
Reply:yes,I had one due to miscarriage. No bleeding a little after the first time hubby and i had sex 2 weeks later. But your neck and back will hurt from lying on the or table and the breathing tube they put in.I am sorry
Reply:I've had 2 m/c and 2 d%26amp;c. With the 1st d%26amp;c I had minimal bleeding for 2 days and no pain. With the 2nd one I bled for 2 weeks afterwards but no pain.
Reply:were you nervous about the procedure? you may have been tensing all of the muscles in your body. i get like that after having blood drawn or a cavity filled at the dentist. it may also be the position you were in during the procedure made your muscles tighten up, like if you sleep wrong.

i am very sorry for your loss and wish you a speedy recovery!
Reply:I didn't have any pain other than the stomach pain.
Reply:sorry for your loss. I had a D%26amp;C and only had cramping afterwards, no other real pain.

MAYBE your muscle aches are from the position you were in during the procedure or a reaction from the anesthesia used.

Unable to shed baby weight despite diligent weight training/exercise--suggestions...

I had my 1st child 5 mos ago by C-section. I was allowed to exercise as of 3 months ago. In the first month and a half, I dropped 10 pounds doing 45 minutes of cardio a day and eating a high fiber diet.

For the last month and a half, I've been stuck. This is very frustrating. I know we all hit plateaus, so after two wks of being stuck (and actually gaining back 5 pounds despite doing nothing different :(), I joined a gym. I work two jobs and take our daughter to and from daycare, so I began going on lunch. For the first 1.5 wks, I only did cardio (45 min-1 hr a day, 6 dys a wk). I ate between 1200-1500 calories a day (I am 5'3", currently 150lbs, trying to get to 125). In 2 wks, I dropped the 5lbs again. After getting used to being in a gym (it's intimidating if you have never been), I began doing circuit train. 5 days a week with some cardio. Still not losing. I am so stuck at 150. I am noticing zero difference in my clothing fit 1 month after joining. Any suggestions

Unable to shed baby weight despite diligent weight training/exercise--suggestions...
Need to keep you protein up, don't lose muscle, it helps you burn calories even when not exercising. These products helped me and my husband tremendously.

What is wrong with my daughters? Potty-training?

I have twin girls -will be 3 in May- 1 daughter is almost potty-trained -she goes potty at pre-school %26amp; stays dry all day but then at home she will not use the potty- how come she'll go at school but not at home? My other daughter doesn't go at school but will go at home if I ask her if she needs to- I'm sick of buying pull-ups %26amp; plus I'm pregnant having c-section 4-30-08- I just want them to potty at home too hopefully before new baby comes! Any ideas?

What is wrong with my daughters? Potty-training?
It's easier for her at home cause you put pull ups on her..If she can do it at school she can do it at home..tell her she is no longer a baby and she will wear only grown up panties..then if she wets them she will feel uncomfortable and you need to put her in a time out..Some will disagree with me but I used to keep kids and once they know how and choose not too it's punishment time..after a few days of sitting in Time out she will start going..Be sure to praise her alot when she does go.Whatever you do, DON"T back down stick to it even though it means more work for you.
Reply:my husband and I have 4 children 3 girls and 1 boy...... they are all successfully potty trained so it does happen. i think your one daughter is good at school because she feels like a big girl at school and will go but at home she wants to be a baby. The other daughter most likely feels comfortable at home but doesn't at school.... A lot of this may be stemming from the new baby coming also.... well heres my suggestion.

Daughter #1 that pees at school:

offer her a reward for going and staying dry all day. (a jelly bean or a fruit snack whatever works.) when she goes potty make a HUGE deal of it and clap and tell her how proud of her you are.

Daughter #2: where ever you go (Target, peoples houses) so have her go to the bathroom so she gets used to peeing in different places. also reward and praise.

whatever you do don't tell them they have to be potty trained before the baby comes and don't scold them when they have an accident... this will only serve to embarrass and humiliate them.... if all else fails remember NO KID GOES TO KINDERGARTEN WEARING DIAPERS...... and you will get through this :)
Reply:I have three year old twins, they are about to be 4. It took forever to get them potty trained, but since you are gonna have a new baby soon, I see why you want them trained now. But, when they start to get less attention from mommy when the new baby comes, they may regress a little bit as a way to get attention. My mother in law had my kids afraid of the potty, and I had to make them feel natural with it. Have a potty in every room if it helps. Bribe, beg, reward, be consistent..I just took the diapers and pull ups away, and made them clean up their own mess when they peed on the floor. After a while, they would run to the potty so they didnt have to clean up pee pee.
Reply:My daughter is 3 and not potty trained at all. She has gone on the potty a few times and likes to watch us flush her #2 away.

I get comments from older family members. It upsets me that they have the nerve to say anything to me about it at all. I have asked a lot of health care professionals about this and they all agree!!! She will do it when she is ready. They say if I push her she will rebel and take longer. As Laura said she will be ashamed and that is the last thing I want.

We have a new baby and it has been suggested that there may be some regression.

With out getting too deep in to this part... If there is animosity in the household it may be a way for the girls to feel in control...

I would love for my daughter to be potty trained too but I don't ever want her to feel bad about herself. I was also told that soon after the regression she would WANT to be a big girl and go on her own...

Hey conservatives, can you please stop arming, training, financing Islamic terrorists?

His Daddy and Reagan trained, armed, finnanced Bin Laden in the 80's. They also wussed out and gave arms to Iran. They also CUT and RAN when Hezbollah killed almost 300 Marines in a bombing in Lebanon. Reagan and Bush gave Chemical weapons to Saddam.

The Bush's are best friends with the Saudi Royal family, the same family which has given tons of cash to support terrorism. The Bush's and the Bin Ladens went into investments with one another (Carlyle Group).

9/11 happened on Bush's watch. George Tenant the head of the C.I.A begged Bush to look into suspected terrorists who were taking flying lessons but didn't want to know how to lift or land a plane. This was 6 months before 9/11, Bush ignores Presdent Daily Brief which on the front said "Bin Laden Determined To Attack U.S.". 9/11/01 America is hit and operation Bush is an idiot so blame Clinton goes in affect. Bush attacks Iraq because Bin Laden attacked us.

Do you think conservatives will stop helping terrorists?

12 week old Lab/mix puppy training questions. 1st time owner.?

I have a nice shed with windows and electricity for a/c %26amp; heat.I have a doggy house inside it with cedar wood bedding on one side where it now pees and poops.I got him from a area where he was left, right at six weeks.I have taken him to get required shots and feed him well.I work 9to5 monday thru friday and i am off on the weekend.I let him come out when im get off work%26amp; play around where he pees in the yard 2.My house is gated all around.I bring him in the house sometimes and take him out to the area i want him to pee in, thats going ok sometimes. I had him in a box when i first got him and put it in the house but he cried when he couldn't see me from the box, so i took him outside to the empty clean shed.I want him tranined not to pee when in house,I got him 4 protection at night so he'll be outside then and while im at work.I dont know how to train him 2 come to me or stay.in house, he stays on his blanket hisself.I need him to stay inside my gate especially when im pulling car in

12 week old Lab/mix puppy training questions. 1st time owner.?
Getting a doggy door for the shed would be a good start...that way ur puppy can go outside to go to the bathroom. As for keeping him inside the yard, there are two ways to do it. One would be to start training him how to stay...and then slowly teach him that when the gate opens, he is supposed to sit and stay. This will take a lot of work and training time....and if you are a first time owner, you may want to consider obedience courses to teach you how to train him. At the very least, buy a book. Make sure you are using a method of "positive reinforcement". The other way to keep him in the yard is with invisible fencing. It is a wire that you run under the ground all the way around your yard, which relays a signal to a receiver on the dogs collar. If the dog steps over the wire, the collar will give them an electrical shock. This also requires training to teach them to understand the system. There is no easy way.
Reply:you should take the dog to obiedience school.:)

in my opinion dogs are for protection, but should be loved unconditionally their entire life long and should have a companion by their side their whole life, another dog? child?

thats just my opinion. that seems liek a very nice garage/shed. it seems like adequate shelter for a dog. but would you want to be locked up in a small shed all day? or would you want a whole house to roam around? dogs can protect a house form the insode or outside. sometimes it is better for them to be inside guarding it so they can chase the bad peopel away.

if it is out side it may be able to fend off bad guys. but also, the bad people may not be afraid of dogs and act very friendly. a dog, if in the house, would easily be able to sense a robbery.

and please dont train your dog to be vicious! is ist he WORST thing you can do to adog. they have little human contact, become very mean to everyone, including innocent peopel that ome into contact with it. it can be very dangerous. impossible to train, and not a good dog to live with. and animal/ dog fights are illegal. and dangerous. if you dog is visious enough (like a dog right dpwn the sreat form me was) it will be taken away and put into quarentene.

this dog ran out form the yard it was in and attacked my friend's dog. the dog that was attacked had a large laceration down the entire back leg and had to get stitches.

the family either is paying for the bill of the hurt dog, or my friend's fmaily is going to sue them.

visious dogs are not good in many ways.they will not be loyal to you, and will not protect the house for you, it may protect it because it feels as if its top dog and no one else can be. and can hurt you and others. nice calm playful dogs are nice, and loyal and WILL protect your house.
Reply:Serious question, if you got a dog for protection, don't you want him to protect you, your family %26amp; your house? To me that means keeping the dog in the house. A guard dog in the yard is only guarding the yard.

Given some time, the dog will stop crying in his crate in the house. I can only imagine how lonely he's feeling out in a shed.

Plus, housebreaking will be much easier with the dog living in the house.
Reply:You should take him to obedience classes for training. But it's going to be hard for him to bond with you and want to protect you when he's shut outside by himself most of the time. He'll protect his yard, but he won't necessarily protect you and your house.
Reply:Doggie door in the shed will be a big plus. But in the mean time, I would also strongly suggest that you find a 'puppy sitter'. Perhaps a trusted neighbor or nearby relative that can come by and exercise your puppy or at least let him out to pee and play in your fenced area for about 40 -60 min. every day. This would also help socialize your puppy and make him a much more stable dog as an adult. Being confined and alone for 4 or more hours at one stretch is asking a WHOLE LOT of a puppy, especialy 5 days out of the week!
Reply:fisrt of all I hope you NEVER leave your dog or anyone elses outside while you're at work, there are so many missing dogs now a days because of this its untrue!!

It also isn't fair to leave him alone for hours while you work, dogs aren't designed to be alone, they're pack animals.

Once you have consisdered that I would say to house train him use a word that he'll recognise with going to the wee like "Wee wee!" or somthing and every time you think he needs to go or starts crouching take him outside and say the word, soon he'll get the hang of it ;)

Dog chocolate drops work a treat too and the odd bit of ham. Don't give him human treats though or antyhing bizzare like coke Ok. Trust the consiquences are BAD! lol
Reply:He's probably going to get pretty big so you might want to consider adding a run outside so he can go outside and let go of some energy when ever he want, but like 4 feet tall =/

Yorkie females with c sections that require spaying?

Hi. Thanks to all of you who responded to my inquiry about yorkies and their size. Overwhelming, you have advised to go with a larger dog (we were being offered pups from top breed dogs but weighing only 3 lbs). New question. I have 2 good breeders who have female yorkies that they are retiring from breeding. Both are 4 years old. Both have had C sections. Both need spaying in order for me to adopt. Both are about the same cost (less that half of a new pup), have been trained and raised in a breeders home, are champion show dogs and are about 5 lbs each. Any experience from you adopting a more mature dog - health risks with spaying a 4 yr old dog who has had a c section. Should I pay considerably more and go for a 7/8 lbs male pup? or go for a 4 year old, given above with really good personality? Very confused about all of this having no experience with this breed. Comments from the breeder are they are very healthy and come from healthy lines.

Yorkie females with c sections that require spaying?
I have no experience with Yorkies, but I know quite a bit about getting older dogs vs. puppies

Spaying a female that has had c-sections is not a big deal. In fact, since she did well with c-section surgeries is a good sign she will handle being spayed well. Also, provided the breeder was responsible having had a few litters should not negatively affect the dog at all.

Adopting an older dog is a wonderful experience. They are calmer, past the chewy phase and all around easier. Puppies are wonderful, but soooo much work.

There are no negatives here, it is just a matter of preference. Do you want a puppy, or an older dog. It's all up to you. I have gotten puppies as well as adopted older dogs of all ages and both are wonderful experiences.
Reply:Adults make the best pets.

I don't know why people want puppies. They are so much work for the entire first year of their lives, it almost makes them more trouble than their worth.

All I'm saying is that a little bladder control in a dog is a good thing! LOL

Anyway, they should do fine for their spays, and will make you a lovely pet. Four is a great age, they live for 15 so you will have many good years together. Training is a bonus. A priceless bonus that you're getting at a discount!

I don't like male dogs. Especially ones that have been studs. They tend to hump everything and pee everywhere. Think twice about him, and ask about his habits.

Good luck to you and your doggie, which ever you pick!
Reply:Go for it! These girls are mature, settled, over all the chewing and teething of puppyhood. Get the dog spayed and just love and enjoy her. It is not uncommon for show breeders to place their retired champions into pet homes. This way the dog gets to be an only dog or share with maybe one other pet and reaps all the benefits of being a beloved pet. If they remain with the breeder, they will still be loved but they will be one of a pack.

Spaying is pretty safe although anytime they must put a dog under general anesthesia there is a risk. Give one of these girls a great home and let her love you with all of her being!!
Reply:Yorkies do great with spays after c-sections. I did this with one of mine, she's my beloved pet %26amp; nothing else now. Since they are older, they won't be chewing up your furniture. Puppies are a lot more work. The male puppy would also make a nice pet,as long as he's never been used for breeding. Retired breeding males will continue to mark everything in sight , even after nuetering. This the reason my current Yorkie stud is nicknamed "the little pisser" ! LOL

The four essential aspects of successful training are?

A. food, praise, stimulation, and exercise

B. a leash, collar, choke chain, and shake can

C. instinct, conditioning, education, and observation

D. reward, reprimand, trust, and consistency

I think it would be D atleast i kno that is what i have and do with my dogs but im not sure im only 17 but im trying to train early to be a veterinary assistant

The four essential aspects of successful training are?
Honestly...use a variety of everything with TONS of love and praise and trust. Try to stay away from the violence though. beating your pet or chocking your pet doesn't help a bit. Animals need to know they are loved and wanted. You need to reward them for doing something good, and they need to trust you and know that you will take care of them, and be consistent with your rules and training. They need a LOT of stimulation and excersie or they can develope bad habits and make you frustrated which dosen't help at all and of COURSE you need a LOT of patience. Educate yourself about your pet that way you can know you pet better and know how to better train them. Watch your pets and get to know their personality.

Baby Cat lost his potty training... HELP!!!?

We just got a kitten about a month ago. He was 16 weeks when we got him, and fully litter box trained. We have a 6-year old female cat (who has always been an only cat).

Our baby will not go in his box... At all. Our older cat doesn't really care where she goes, so she'll go in his. Recently I've made more of a point to separate the boxes, and close the door to his all day (while we're out). I sit with him every night for about an hour. But b/c he knows what I'm waiting for, he tries to hold it as long as possible. And what's more strange... He'll pee in the shower (or sometimes the sink if we keep the shower closed). And he'll poop right next to either his box or hers. Or sometimes out in the front room. But all of those areas are linoleum, meaning he knows better than to go on the carpet!!!

He must be intimidated... But what the hell do I do??? It's very frustrating, and even moreso draining.

PLEASE HELP!!!!!!!

Baby Cat lost his potty training... HELP!!!?
1) Add at least one, better two more litter boxes. The rule of thumb is the the number of litter boxes should equal the number of cats plus one, so for two cats you need at least three litter boxes.

2) Maybe he doesnt like the type of litter - some cats are fussy. Try adding another box with a different type of litter.

3) Are the boxes covered? Some cats wont use a covered box, especially if another cat is intimidating them. Try taking the cover off the boxes.
Reply:You should make sure that he knows which box is his and that the litter doesnt make his paws feel bad. Also try getting your other cat to use hers so he knows which he can go in. Or you caan not wait for him and let him go on his own but you can just bring him to it when he is done eating or drinking water to see if he has to go. Hope it helps!

Stargate (Teal'c Ronan)?

So anyone else see the episode of SGA (midway) where teal'c and ronan fought? You can say what you'd like but I have to say Teal'c won that little scuffle? One hundred and thirty and still able to hold his own against a trained alien fighter? I gotta say that's impressive? Your thoughts?

P.S. Sorry to my contacts Karate Kid and Bet but it had to be

Stargate (Teal'c Ronan)?
I haven't seen the episode but I have read the transcript and I'm positive that Ronon would have won. A) Teal'c is really old, Ronon's not, B) Ronon spent 7(!) years fighting the Wraith and C) Teal'c only carries around one staff weapon normally, and maybe a zat; Ronon carries around who knows how many knives, several guns and sometimes a sword. Think about it...Ronon would win!

-Kree
Reply:Thanks! *cough*Ronon*cough* Report It

Reply:P.S. Nice avatar! Report It

Reply:I still say Ronon Report It

Reply:i think it was a draw. but tel"c would have won if sam had let the fight continue.
Reply:Didn't Sam stop the fight? But I guess Teal'c being able to hold his own (barely) against Ronon is impressive for someone that old, (I still say Ronon's definitely better at fighting ;)

Help With C: Drive!?

I'm trying to download Microsoft Train Simulator on my PC. I got it as a torrent as .NRG files (2 files). So I go to install it and disk one works fine. But when I get to disk two (the game requires disc 2 to complete the installation), the games asks for it to be put in drive C:. I have no idea on where my C: drive is. Is it my Local Disk C:/? Or is it something else and how do I mount the .NRG on to there? Please help!

Help With C: Drive!?
Drive C: is your local disk, if you've never changed it.

copy the files (for disk 2) on your drive c: (local drive)
Reply:it could either be local disk c:\, or the game is confusing your hard drive with your cd drive

Regardless of delivery method (on ground, online, hybrid), a higher ed institution in the US can have 3 institutional accreditation statuses.

1. Regionally accredited - the highest and most useful.

2. Nationally accredited - real, but not as recognized or useful. Yes it is less than regional accreditation, which isn't intuitive.

3. Unaccredited

Be sure to check here before you enroll: http://www.chea.org/search/

PCDI falls into the Nationally accredited category, a real but not as recognized accreditation. Most employers will accept it for vocational training (1 year certificate programs), but I would look to a Regionally accredited school beyond that.

Its just luck when you get it. but if you do it to a lv 99 pokemon, it will get all the stats when it goes to lv 100. you will get the points eventually

Beyond Potty Training??

My three year old has been potty trained for three months now with hardly any accidents, he still wears a diaper at night time. The past week, he has been having LOTS of accidents and just had his fourth one today. How should I handle this? I usually tell him, accidents happen and act like it is no big deal, but c'mon, 4 times in one day is a bit much! i'm at my wits end parents - HELP!

Beyond Potty Training??
My son did the same thing. They regress sometimes. I kept reminding him during the day if he had to pee. I'd ask him every 30 to 45 minutes especially after he drank. I'd remind him you don't want to have another accident. It took about 3 days and he got the hang of it again. They get so busy with playing etc. they forget to go. Hang in there, it's just a stage. My son was 3.5 when it happened to him. =) Good luck!!
Reply:You really ask somebody that you know that has a baby for this question
Reply:I teach 3 and 4 year olds. Sometimes kids get so caught up in their play that they don't feel like or forget to go to the restroom until it's too late. I would really not recommend punishing him. Let him change his own clothes and put the dirty clothes in the laundry room. At least he's learning responsibility that way.
Reply:Is something else going on that could have affected him? New house or job or baby?? Sometimes kids regress when something else has happened. Also make sure you rule out sickness because that could be causing him to have accidents too. But don't make it a big deal which I know can be frustrating but otherwise he might become scared and reluctant to use the toilet.
Reply:Try using a reward system such as a chart with stickers and everytime he uses the toilet he can pick a stciker to put up. Or just have him use the toilet lots during the day. I work at a childcare center and we have the children use the toilet at certain times during the day or if they are prone to accidents they are sent to 'try' more often
Reply:First off, check with his doctor to rule out a urinary track or bladder infection. Children often regress with new changes in their lives. Have there been any recent changes in his life (move, new baby or one on the ways, new school, family issues, stress)? If so, give your son lots of extra love and support.

It could get caught up in the moment from time to time, but frequent accidents throughout the day seem to suggest he may be having “accidents” on purpose. Children will resort to having accidents in order to feel powerful and it gets time attention. Help him to feel powerful in positive ways by saying thing like "You did that by yourself!" "You can run super fast!" "Look how high you can jump!" "You used so many colors on your painting." These phrases are great confidence boosters, are great ways for you to show love and attention, and great ways for him to feel powerful in a positive way.

Don’t let him know that you have and issue with this. If you insist, he will resist because he is in control. Please don’t reward, take away privileges, send him to his room, or remind him every so often if he needs to go. These will only give more attention to the problem. If you see him doing the “potty dance,” say to him “It looks like you need to use the bathroom.” Say nothing more that that. When he has and "accident," don't give it much attention. Say "It looks like you need to change." Give it no more attention than that. He can remove his wet clothing, rinse them out, put them in a bag in the laundry, clean any wet area, clean himself, and put on dry clothing. Don’t help him. It won't take him long to learn it is much easier to use the bathroom. Hope this helps! Good luck!
Reply:I think he may be bothered by something or he might be so in to his playing that he doesn't want to get up and go to the bathroom.
Reply:i am going trough that now with my two year old. i wasn.t even going to bother potty training till next year but for the least two months now he has been going to potty off an on. my middle son wasn't potty trained till 3 1/2 yrs old. my oldest was 2 yrs and 9 months old. they all learn at different stages they also regress sometimes
Reply:He knows how to stay dry; now you need to hold him accountable without turning it into a power struggle between you. Tell him, "I am not going to nag you to go potty. You know how. When you do not stay dry, you will go to your room for the rest of the day, no matter if it's almost bedtime or 10am. You will miss any meals and activities remaining in the day. It's up to you." Then stick to it. He will test you two or three times. Then he will stop having accidents.

Air combat training?

several questions here as they'll save me points =]

a. how do simulated missiles work? (usually painted blue)

b. why dont russian pilots train in Nellis with U.S. and NATO forces? (after all, the cold war is over and russia and U.S. r allies)

c. when stealth aircraft participate (F-117s constantly participate in Green Flag exercises) , how does ATC keep track of their locations?

Air combat training?
a) Usually, you just "call" a launch, but you don't actually shoot it off. For example, you announce over "GUARD" the universal channel, like "Fox 2 on the Hornet eastbound at 5000 ft". The referees will "judge" how surprised the recipients are and how many would have been killed, and they're ordered back to base to be "revived" later.

b) Because... Russians are NOT in NATO yet? That's a political decision.

c) They have special transponders fitted for the exercises.

Need advice on potty training a 4 year old boy?

My husband and I have 3 kids. Our youngest is 4 and he is well behaved, very social and sweet. He does really well going pee in the potty. He is having problems with going poop on the potty. We are bathing him twice a day b/c he just does not want to go on the potty. We have tried everything. we are always giving him positive reinforcement, we do not scold him when he goes in his pants. But, it seems like he just likes going poop in his pants! His sister practically potty trained herself at 2 yrs. old and his older brother was about 3. We have tried to make the potty as inviting as possible, with toys and books to play with as he sits. We have sat him on the potty after he eats. I am serious, we have tried everything! Has anyone gone through this? Does anyone know what might work? Please serious answers only! He just turned 4 in January and we would like him to go to pre-school next year, but he won't be able too unless he is fully potty trained. I am the one home with him all day.

Need advice on potty training a 4 year old boy?
My son was close to 4 when he was potty trained. Naturally we tried to do it earlier, but his emotions weren't ready for it. Our once bubbley happy boy became very down and depressed each time we tried. So we gave up and waited until he wanted to. It took him starting preschool to get him to that place. Within a week of preschool, he saw that everyone else was not wearing diapers and was going pee and poop on the toilet. He went dry day and night OVERNIGHT and he NEVER had an accident. My friend has a boy the same age. She was SO proud of herself that her boy was trained at 2. But at 5 years old he was still having accidents and they were so often that he ended up still wearing pull ups at night. Compare that to my boy - he was trained later, but dry all at once and with no accidents - simply because he was ready.

Don't push him, there's nothing wrong with you or him, ignore people who put pressure on you saying that it's weird. It's not worth crushing that bubbly loving character for the sake of pride and to save a few months of diapers. He's change when he's ready, you have educated him and now he needs to make the right choice at the right time.

Way to break a child's spirit. Your children must feel very loved. Think about the advice you are giving before you submit your answer!!!
Reply:Collect data... see when he is pooping and develop a toileting schedule around that. Also, just because you are using positive reinforcement does not mean you are using it correctly... You may have to change the reinforcer, or make it bigger/better. Additionally, at that age, cognitively, they may not put together the feeling of going to the bathroom and getting there on time. It may be more of an internal thing as opposed to one where he has consious effort...

Put him on a toileting schedule, and make a token board representation of the times when he uses the toilet. The idea is to reinforce toilet use on a schedule (even if he doesn't poop). That will increase his compliance to the toileting schedule. Make a token board representation. I downloaded a picture of darth vadar and cut it up into 7 pieces and laminated. I then used velcro to fasten the pieces into place to form a puzzle. Each time they earn, add a piece to the puzzle. Do not take away for failing... Just keep doing what you're doing. He'll pick it up. All kids learn to pee before poop... he'll pick it up.
Reply:OK...positive reinforcement is obviously not working!!!! I agree that he should be the one to start cleaning it up....make him sit in it for a while. He is 4 years old...not 2...you have to make him realize that this behavior is NOT acceptable. If you keep cleaning him up and acting like it isn't a big deal he is going to keep on doing it. I am not saying you have to scream and yell but you have to make sure he knows that 4 year olds are to poop in the potty not in their pants. I would start taking away his favorite toys and not let him have them back until the problem is solved.
Reply:I agree with that last answer, yes you are doing everything right but nothing seems to be working. He's 4 and it's time he realizes he should go poop in the toilet. My niece was the same way, when my sister let her sit in it until she cried to be changed and she only had to do it about 7 times literally and from then on she picked up going to the potty real fast. I know it sounds rude but trust me it really does work think about it. Good luck!
Reply:Then what's up with YOU that you would let this continue for so long??? You make HIM clean up the mess! Make him wash out his pants and clean up! Let him cry, throw a fit or whatever, but make him do it!!! When he finds out how much work it is, he will stop! Get him up in the morning and make him sit on the pot til he goes! Move the thing in the living room if you have to! You could also try explaining how disgusting it is and that only babies poop in their diapers. Ask him if he wants to wear diapers again. If he says no, then tell him that's just what will happen if he does it again and then DO IT!!! Why would he want to stop? When he does it, Mommy comes and pays attention to him and gives him a bath and never says anything, and never yells at him for it! He has no motivation to stop!!!
Reply:Inform him calmly that the next time he goes poop in his pants and not in the potty, he will be sitting in it for a very long time. Keep him in it until he is very bothered by it and is begging to be changed. After a few times of this he should get the picture. My son just turned 4 a few days ago and if he was going poop in his pants still he'd be expecting to get in trouble for it.
Reply:At age 4 you have the benefit of clearer communication! Talk to your son about his discomfort when he poops in his pants instead of the potty. Also, talk to him about how it is easier for you if he uses his potty. Let him know that he is a big help when he uses the potty to poop in. Most 4 year olds are eager to be helpful!

Dog training?
You can visit http://www.dogstraining.info .It provide you with the most popular and easiest dog training Guide
Reply:No, it's not too late. Here are some Positive ways to help you be the leader:

The L in the S.C.A.L.E.© of listening methodology is for Leadership: Dogs need a leader, and if you do not step up to the plate and become that leader, your dog will - even reluctantly. Leaders do not listen to anyone else. So if you want your dog to listen to you, you must become a leader. Here are some exercises to help you achieve that role.

1. Nothing in life is free. Make sure you remind your dog no pleasure comes without listening to you. Teach him to sit for dinner, Lie down before doors are opened etc. Because your dog is very clever we should build a long routine that varies with every task, For example: Sit, down, shake, - as one routine. Remember to change the routines every day; do not repeat the exact routine every day. Please try a minimum of 3 commands for every pleasure your dog gets.

2. Humans go first through doorways and up and down stairs. Teach your dog to Sit and Stay until he is release through main doors (outside, inside), up and down stairs.

3. Down/Stay sessions for five to twenty minutes at a time to help teach your dog self control and give him a constructive job to perform around distractions and company.

4. No dogs on the beds or furniture. (If you can not abide by this rule, only allow your dog up by invitation – or command!!!). Tin foil or other devices to keep him off the couch when you are not there is important, or he will still think it is his throne. Limit his area to the kitchen where there is no furniture.

5. Don't repeat a command more than once. If your dog does not respond on the first try, help lure him into position. Be sure you have plenty of treats for the next few months to help reward him for listening.

6. Ignore your dog if he nudges you for attention. Leaders give attention on their own terms, not when their dogs demand. Ignore your dog if he is constantly pushing toys at you. Leaders initiate play and decide when the game starts and ends. This keeps a dog on his toes because he never knows when the fun begins. If your dog comes over for attention, make him earn it first, then love him up.

7. Limit access to the home, or the dog can begin to protect his “kingdom”. It is your home, you are the leader, and the dog has his special place. Front windows and furniture near that front area give the dog his leadership command position.

8. Provide consequences, ignore what you don’t like, avoid yelling at your dog for barking or jumping for instance, from your dog’s perspective, any attention is better than none. Speaking to the dog can often be mistaken for reinforcement.

I have trained dogs who are 11, 12 years old....good luck
Reply:It's never too late to train a dog to do anything, especially at such a young age (2 Years old!!!). My dog is exactly the same but probably worse (7 Years old). I am doing the sames things you recommended, but with little or no results.

Reply:It's never to late to train a dog. You need to be persistent in what you are teaching though. You can't do one thing on one day %26amp; then something else on another. The dog doesn't know what you want it to do when you work it that way. Always stick to the same rules %26amp; the same commands %26amp; eventually, your dog will get it. Reward with a lot of praise when the dog does "good" %26amp; do not punish when it does "bad". The dog does not understand what it is being punished/yelled at for. Persistance will pay off. Best of luck!

Reply:Obeying hait? Errr...what? Anyways, I suggest you do a thorough search into the Nothing in Life is Free (NILIF) technique and do a pretty hardcore implementation for him. There's no reason he should growl at you. If he was a 100 lbs Rottweiler, you certainly wouldn't put up with it. In addition, consult a knowledgeable trainer and/or behaviorist.

Does my dog need training?

My female dog, Macy, is a little over 3 years old. She goes out back in our yard and kills bunnies... mostly babies b/c they are easier to catch. My husband says we shouldn't chastise her b/c it's "nature" but I don't like the idea of constantly discovering dead bunnies in my yard. Any thoughts? Should we train her not to do this? Or is there some way to deter the bunnies from my back yard in the first place? Thanks for any help!

Does my dog need training?
Place a bell on her collar to help warn the bunnies of her presence.
Reply:You should say " good dog" and give her a cookie. She is doing what comes natural.

Oh and to answer your question......ALL dogs need training.
Reply:Its the process of natural selection. Soon, only the smart bunnies who are not stupid enough to go in a yard with the dog will survive.

My dogs eat the bunnies *shrug* .... then I have to worm them... ewwwwww...

You can try warning the bunnies she's coming out.. but I've never found bunnies to be smart enough to get the hint.. squirrels and birds do though.
Reply:It's probably just your dog's instinct to kill the rabbits. My Bassett Hound also likes to chase rabbits and squirrels. Hasn't caught one yet.
Reply:The behavior comes from the wolf in the dog. I doubt you'll be able to change that.

Sometimes wild animals respond/stay away from areas where there is a human smell. Try going to a local hair salon and asking them for their hair each day... to get enough to put around the perimeter of your back yard. It is bio-degradable and needs to be replaced about every two weeks.

Another trick might be to use moth balls or pepper around the perimeter of your back yard. Good luck!!
Reply:WalMart or KMart should sell something.. Also try carrots spread out in other parts of your yard, to encourage the bunnies to come THERE, instead of in the b/yard. That should help.

Also, if you can find something that bunnies don't like at walmart or kmart, they should have ALOT of stuff, b/c it's a world-wide problem -- bunnies getting into gardens..
Reply:This is natural behavior from dogs.. its what they do.. Hunting is in every dogs blood. But if u dont want this, it is ideal to catch her in the process of killing the bunnies and take displinary actions RIGHT AWAY .. otherwise she will not know what ur talking about and she will have no idea what your trying to imply.
Reply:That is very unfortunate. There is no sure way to get rid of the bunnies in your backyard. Unless you limit Macy's ventures to the back yard by leashing or chaining her, you are probably out of luck. Still, I would contact a dog behaviouralist and see if there is a way to curve this instinct.

How much training do teachers have undertake to be a teacher?

How long do you have to train for (in England) to be a:

a) Primary School Teacher

b) Secondary School English Teacher

c) Secondary School Maths Teacher

d) Secondary School History Teacher

Also, how do you get to be headteacher in a school, is it just through promotions etc?

And, how much do secondary school teachers get paid and headteachers?

How much training do teachers have undertake to be a teacher?
The way you worded that question makes me think you're not from the US, but here are the requirements for American educators:

- 4 years of college

- Bachelors Degree in Education (preferred)

- Internship (preferred)

- Certification by the state that you live in

((Teachers roughly start out making between $30,000 and $50,000 depending on what state you live in))

For promotion:

- Normally 5 years of experience

- Masters Degree or higher in specified field

((Principals usually make over $100,000 but I think that reflects on the city, county, or state you work for))

Undergraduate Teacher Training - QUICKEST TRAINING ROUTE?

I have just completed a BTEC Teaching Assistant course through distance learning. I have now decided I would like to train as a Secondary School teacher specialising in either Maths or a Science subject. Does anyone know the quickest way for me to do this? I have 8 GCSE grade C or above, but no A Levels. Would I be able to enter onto a BSc with QTS without the A Levels?

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks.

Undergraduate Teacher Training - QUICKEST TRAINING ROUTE?
You would need a degree in either Math or Science. That's three years. Then you'd need to upgrade to teaching certification or a degree in Education. Also, keep in mind that many areas base salaries on years of experience AND years of post-secondary education. By the way, does an online Teaching Assistant course include any time spent interning in a real classroom? If not, I can't imagine it's worth the paper it's printed on.
Reply:sorry, hon, you need a degree to teach. and therefore, a levels.

you could try to get onto a uni course for a BSc - best to contact them direct - but do it soon, as I am sure you know from your TA experience, UCAS deadline is approaching...
Reply:Hi there. You would need to do A-levels or an Access course (which would take one year). Then you could...

1. Do an English/Maths BA/BSc (Hons) then PGCE - 4 years

2. Find a BEd (Hons) Secondary Maths/English Course - 3/4 years

I know that Edge Hill University do a fast track course in the summer for potential teachers ... they would bite your hand off because you want to teach a shortage subject (maths/English).

I think Manchester Met do a 3 year undergraduate course too.

Look on the Training and Development Agency for Schools website for undergraduate teaching courses.

Reply:I don't know how old you are but you may try to get some dispensation on qualifications if you are a mature student. You may have to demonstrate the ability and willingness to learn by doing an A level or two first and you will certainly need GCSE C grade Maths and probably English. You are too late for University this year so 'phone some, get the knowledge and study this year.

Two routes are B.Ed through a teacher training college or B.A. BS.c etc through a conventional university course and then a PGCE (post graduate certificate in education). Remember, if there is no quick route then the only route is the slow one but it will lead to the same end.

You could also spend the year working in a school and seeing if you really want to take charge of the classes, remembering that they don't all contain bright, highly polished and smiling children with a deep respect for you as a human and an educator.
Reply:I'm no expert but I'm pretty sure you would need some higher qualifications than GCSEs, you might be able to continue on with A-Levels but every trainee teacher I know has had to have done a degree! Of some sort at least.

Has anyone travelled on a Virgin Trains express, when it's been diverted via the S&C line?

I will hopefully be going on a train over the line this year, and was wondering what the Settle %26amp; Carlisle line is like, and if it's

quite easy to take photographs from inside a train whilst it travels over the line?

Would it be better to do so on an express train, or an ordinary Northern Rail service which stops at most stations along the way? I assume that 156's operate along the line, not 142s? If 142s do, I may avoid the line.

Does anyone know why Virgin Cross Country's 07:03 Birmingham to Preston, and 10:29 Preston to Plymouth aren't going to/from Glasgow, even though they did last year?

(I'm guessing, so VXC doesn't have to send out as many Voyagers from Central Rivers, and Polmadie?)

Thanks for your answers, as they may persuade me to go on a Virgin Voyager/Pendolino train, or local Northern train.

Has anyone travelled on a Virgin Trains express, when it's been diverted via the S%26amp;C line?
I Would suggest a service train, not a diverted express - if you want to try and take pictures. The service train will be going slower and yes, the do use 156s, not 142s (at least they were - who knows these days - but I think the only NR 142s on on the Bishop Auckland-Darlington-Saltburn services) Apart from speed, 156s have opening windows which Pendolinos/Voyagers don't

I can't help with your query re the two services you mention, but don't forget that when the x-country franchise is relet, there will be no services at all on the WCML north of Manchester.
Reply:You want to avoid a Pendolino. You can't see much through those tiny windows. Much better to go on a stopping train. S %26amp; C trains are 156's or 158's. Personally I'd rather go on a 142 than a Pendolino! Photography from any modern train is pretty hopeless really - unless you can tolerate reflections off the glass/dirt on the window compromising picture quality. You need to be on a train with proper opening windows - and the only way to do that is to find an enthusiasts special.
Reply:I can't answer your question directly, but can point you in the direction of some people who might be able to help. Go to railchat.co.uk and ask your question on the forum there. The site is frequented by lots of rail users, enthusiasts and staff from all over the UK. Someone is bound to know...
Reply:You'll get far better pictures of the line from a "stopping" train than you ever will from a fast. Some years back I did the trip from Leeds to Carlisle on a 'slow' train from which I was able to get some magnificent pictures not only of the scenery, but of the stations themselves, some of which are as pretty as the scenery itself ! ! !

Training Diet - Cycling?

I've been waking up at 5 am to ride three times a week. Riding just shy of 2 hour rides, medium intensity.

For those that ride in the morning. What you you eat to give you energy? I usually down an emergen-c, a bananna and take a powerbar with me to eat along the way.

Background is - I weight train five days a week (2 hours ea.)in the evenings and ride three days during the week and one longride on the weekend.

Thanks in advance.

Training Diet - Cycling?
Your dedication is impressive. You ride more than alot of guys on my racing team. It must really be helping with your muscle tone and definition in conjunction with the weights.

First off you need more fluids for a two hour ride.

This may sound strange, but it works great. Drink a 10 oz glass of orange juice, and a ten oz glass of WHOLE milk about 30 minutes before you ride. The various sugars ( both simple and complex) will help with the shorter intense efforts, and the fat in the milk will help with the endurance (aerobic) efforts. So it's not only the sugars and fats for energy, but you'll be getting 20 oz of fluid, meaning you stay well hydrated. Also, milk and OJ both digest extremely well, so you won't feel like your stomach is full. Carry the banana for a snack about 1/2 way through the ride if you feel the need, but you might not need it it at all.

A power bar is a good choice if you don't like the milk/OJ idea, but I would eat it before you ride with 16-20 oz of fluid, and carry the banana for a snack.
Reply:check out Carmichael Training Systems

great tips, nutrition info, etc.
Reply:I think your breakfast could probably use some more substance. For a long ride, I generally eat something with carbs in it (bagel, english muffin, etc) and some fruit. I also bring along an energy bar or gel packet in case I feel sluggish.
Reply:I think that maybe your breakfast could use more carbohydrates. Try weet-bix(if your country has it) or muesli or anything high in complex carbohydrates. It should give you a more sustained energy boost.

Potty Training Issues!!!!!!!!!!?

I am getting paid to potty train my 7 year old niece. She is not cooperating with anything i try. I think she is scared of the potty because everytime i sit her down on it or talk about it, she starts crying and getting upset. I don't know what to do. I don't want to force her because she is not my child. I try to make it fun, but she despises that potty so much, I am losing hope. I don't know why she is acting like this, or if it is something my brother did to her or what. Maybe I'm not doing it right, (I don't know b/c i'm only 15.) She does not have learning disabilities or anything prior to that. She can't go to school because she isn't potty trained either, so that sux. Anywayz, she is much too old to be like this and I need some advice.

Potty Training Issues!!!!!!!!!!?
If she seems scared have you tried a smaller potty, you know not the toilet but a small baby-potty? I know this will look kind of ridiculous and may even overflow, but she might not be scared.
Reply:Speak to her as if she is an adult. Tell her that she must learn to use the BATHROOM (not the 'potty') properly and she must learn to do it NOW ... give her the chance to tell you something that she'd LOVE to do, but can't do now, and tell her that as soon as she can go three days and three nights without soiling herself, you will SEE TO IT that she gets this reward ...but also tell her that only BABIES wet and soil themselves, and she's a BIG GIRL now, and APOLOGIZE for her not being taught properly when she was 2-3 years old.

There may be some GOOD REASONS she isn't properly taught, though ... a physical problem that ONLY a doctor can help, or she could have been sexually molested when she was small or some other thing it will take a real ADULT to handle ... and you must be aware of these things, and try to get information from her, and then tell a RESPONSIBLE ADULT (not her parents if there is suspicion of parental sexual abuse happening) and let that person take it from there.
Reply:Oh =[

sounds like she is disabled

you need to see what she does when she is

peeing/pooping in her dipper's. when she does that you need to fast take her to a potty training tiolet and put her there. keep doing that.
Reply:when my daughter was one she was potty trained..try a baby potty..it worked for my daughter now shes 2 and using grown up potty.
Reply:If she is 7 years old and not potty trained, her parents need to take her to the pediatrician, not pass her off to her 15 year old aunt/uncle. It is possible that she needs a few sessions with a child psychologist who is trained to get to the root of her fear and help her over it. You are being put into a situation that is unfair to both you and the 7 year old. The adults in your lives (your parents too) need to take some responsibility and get that child to a professional who can help her and to stop putting you into a situation that you are both unprepared and untrained to deal with.

Potty training delimma?

My daughter has potty trained fine. At first, she was having accidents while playing which was very understandable. Now I know for a fact that she is completely potty trained. We have taken her out of the house with panties and she has done great. Lately however she is back tracking. We keep pull ups on hand for the night time. Lately when we tell her to get her panties on she will say "No. Me want diaper" When this is said if I make her do the panties anyway she'll wet her pants. When she is in this mood, if she has a diaper on, she'll come out and changer her own diaper after one pee. Pull ups are way more expensive and I can't have her going though them after one pee through the day, just b/c she doesn't want to use the potty. I don't mind accidents, she is a little girl and I can understand it, but this "I just don't feel like it" stuff is driving me insane! Is there another child out there that has done that? If so, how did you encourage them to use the potty everytime?

Potty training delimma?
My first two children went throught that. I made them run around the house naked if they did not do right in their panties or underwear. They hated not having anything on, so they got their act together real quick.
Reply:www.babycenter.com can help you with this and more
Reply:Sometimes you have to use the bribe thing, it works every time, but maybe there is something going on that you don't know about. Or maybe someone told her that there's a potty monster!!!! like on look who's talking!!! good luck.
Reply:My daughter is three and has been fully potty trained for a year. She has also decided on occasion that she would rather wear the pull up. I have also noticed that she puts diapers on all her dolls which could explain why she wants to go back to wearing a diaper. She also sees me changing a little boy that I babysit, he just turned 2 and maybe feels that if he doesn't use the potty why should I. I have made a play potty for her dolls and she has had less days of wanting to wear the pull ups. It's worth a try.
Reply:It may be time to take away the pull ups. Get good bed protectors!

I am unfamiliar with any Panamanian restaurants in the DC metropolitan area. I would check out the following places that serve "Pan-Latin" food.

* El Montserrate Restaurant: 85 N. Glebe Road in Arlington, VA. 703-528-2789 -- Primarily Colombian and Mexican.

%26amp;%26amp;

any ideas on how get get him to stop crying in the middle of the night b/c hes alone?

THANK YOU SOOOO MUCH

Kennel training a puppy?
i went threw the same thing with my pom i put her in the cage at night when i go to bed i put the cage in my room then during the day i would wal her and let her go potty and i would put her in my bathroom with water and toys and she was fine just loxk the door you should do it it works good luck
Reply:you can keep you the dog in a crate till you get home. A dog won't potty where they sleep, because they don't like to lay in the urine.

The puppy will be fine the whole time your gone but potty him out side before you go to school and he will learn to hold it for that long

Talk to your vet he will be able to give you some suggestions
Reply:He is very young to hold it all day, so please try to get someone to at least let him out once during the day!

At night, if you can't let him snuggle with you, than put a hot water bottle in with him, with a blanket wrapped around it. And you could also try a clock, make sure it has a ticking sound, wrap it up in a blanket and put it in the kennel with him, I guess the ticking reminds them of their mommys heart beat.
Reply:When you're away, give him something like a puzzle toy(ones where you may hide treats in) and have some music playing. Classical music is actually one of the closest in relation to the sounds found in nature. These will distract the puppy while alone.

When arriving home, greet the puppy but don't take it out immediately (here's the hard part) when it quiets approach it. When it cries, pay it no mind. The puppy must learn that it will not be taken out in response to it making noise.

When home don't just have it out only to put it back in for the day or before going to sleep. Leave the kennel open and take it to the different areas of the house where you and others gather (won't be seen as prison) play game around and in it, so that the puppy enjoys entering it. On weekends is the best time to reinforce this.

When it does cry PLEASE don't take it out or give it the attention that it has learned is an automatic response.

Remember to give it a wide variety of toys that would require it to think, instead of just sit there and chew. (Please don't leave it with rawhide or any of those large bones. I've seen really bad cases regarding those items)

The clinic that I worked for has doggy daycare/puppy play time sessions, where we socialize the puppy with different environments and other dogs. They have fun, eat lunch, and get special training. Perhaps one of your local vets offer something similar. If only for a week or two the puppy should come out all the better. If the sessions aren't available, then by all means just ask them their opinion about what steps you ought to take. Hope take.

If possible, is there some way that someone could come home on a lunch break to give the dog a kind of "puppy break". Allow it to stretch its legs and go on back in?

Hope that this helped out some. Good Luck.
Reply:Have a friend or a hired sitter to come and take him out during the day. He can't hold "it" that long during the day as he's so young. Keeping in the crate that long during the day is abusing the crate.

At night, put your fingers in the crate to comfort the puppy, this usually only needs to be done for a few nights, and works well with my pups.

If he is spending that much time in his crate during the day, that is also going to lead to night time crate issues. Its simply not right to crate a puppy that long, overnight is one thing, during the day is other.
Reply:Well, 6 weeks old is way too young.. he should not have been removed from his mom and littermates until 8 weeks of age...

NOT a good breeder...

Guess you will just have to suffer with this little guy and try to understand that he was way too young to be taken..

Talk to me when he is 8 weeks old and I will, at that time, help you with the house and crate training.

GOOD LUCK

Handler/Trainer of GSD's
Reply:put an alram clock in his crate and put in a toy with him make it as homely as you can. i know weird. but thats what we did with are minni cocker spanial. she quited up when we did that.
Reply:Puppies as young as yours usually do cry alot when they are left alone cause their not used to it. Try getting him a stuffed toy to cuddle up to it helped when my dog was a pup. and as for going potty try a kitty litter. puppies usually poo within 20 mins of being fed so when you are home take him out side about 10 mins after you feed him (every time) and he will get used to that and will soon start letting you know when he needs to go.

Its hard work looking after a pup and it usually results less sleep.

GOOD LUCK!

I hope my answer helped you..
