Air combat training?

several questions here as they'll save me points =]

a. how do simulated missiles work? (usually painted blue)

b. why dont russian pilots train in Nellis with U.S. and NATO forces? (after all, the cold war is over and russia and U.S. r allies)

c. when stealth aircraft participate (F-117s constantly participate in Green Flag exercises) , how does ATC keep track of their locations?

Air combat training?
a) Usually, you just "call" a launch, but you don't actually shoot it off. For example, you announce over "GUARD" the universal channel, like "Fox 2 on the Hornet eastbound at 5000 ft". The referees will "judge" how surprised the recipients are and how many would have been killed, and they're ordered back to base to be "revived" later.

b) Because... Russians are NOT in NATO yet? That's a political decision.

c) They have special transponders fitted for the exercises.
