Circuit training 4 days a week TOO much?

ok actually this question is intended for people who have done years of exercising, maybe military background or even law enforcement background=)

i will be going into the sheriff academy this may, i went to one of the preacademy training days, and it kicked ***!!!!

we did circuit training, for example, 25 pushups, then 220 yards, then 30 crunches then 220 yards, then 25 prayer pushup (diamond pushups), then 440 yards, then 25 mountain climbers, then 880 yards

then did all above again LOL mixing some other basic exercises

so my question is, is doing these FOUR days a week too much? b/c i dont want to hurt myself before the academy starts yet i want to BE REALLY REALLY READY FOR IT

also, my timing for 220 yards and 440 yards are great, in fact, faster than the border line timing =) but somehow i felt really discouraged b/c so many guys were running faster than me =( i know there is still half a class behind me, but does anyone ever experienced this feeling of downness? if so please

Don't worry about other's times. As long as you're pulling your weight and making times, and showing improvements, no one can ask anymore of you.

4 days a week will put a strain on you if you're not a regular work out type of person. If you're doing good now, great. Maintain a healthy lifestyle and work out, but do not jam it 4 days a week. You're only asking for an academy ending injury like that.
Reply:No it is not too much. You want to be in the best shape possible for this academy. I should know. I'm a California highway patrol explorer and we have to go to the academy were they train their cadets for one week. my post went to that last year and we really didn't work out or train for P.T. that's the biggest mistake most of the explorer cadets made. the P.T kicked my a** the first day because we did around 25 push ups,30 or so sit ups, mountain climbers, nose in the ring aka diam on push ups, jumping jacks, back to push ups, and so on. the next day we did even more of the things i just listed above. after "warm ups" as they call them we went on a half mile run. most of us lagged behind but we kept running because we knew most of the class was either ahead of us or behind us. yea it sucks to feel down because most of you classmates are running faster than you. but don't sweat it. just do your training and you'll do real good in the academy. good luck!
Reply:4 days a week is fine, but I wouldn't do it on back to back days. Every other day is great. Just being able to complete it is a tribute to your guts.
