Potty training my puppy?

I have a 5 month old female corgi and I'm having a hard time potty training her.

We also have a 9 month old male pit bull, who grasped the concept of ringing the bell to let us know when he wants out very quickly. She doesn't understand the bell and from time to time she'll have an accident in the house.

She's too cute to physically punish and I won't use her crate as a means of punishment b/c that's her "safe place." What can I do to get her trained like her brother? All I hear people say is, "Corgis are so smart!"

She's sneaky when she tinkles in the house because we never catch her in the act.

Potty training my puppy?
First of all, physical punishment is never an answer so good for you that you refuse to do that!

Crate training truly is the best way to house break a dog. It's not punishment. Just keep her crated anytime that you are physcially with her watching her closely. Only allow her out during playtime, eating, and pottying. As soon as you allow her out, take her outside and make her stay until she goes. When she does, give her treat and a very happily say "Good potty!" In the house, if you notice her starting to sniff or look around, take her outside. Anytime she eats, take her out 10-15 minutes later. If she doesn't go within 10 minutes of being out, bring her back in and wait 5 minutes then repeat. There's no sense in saying anything to her after she had pottied in the house, by the time she's done, she's forgotten about it. Only tell her bad potty when and if you catch her in the act and immediately take her outside, repeating the good potty method. Don't allow her to have free reign of the house during the night or anytime you're not watching her closely until she is completely trained. This has worked wonders with my puppy who is now 12 weeks old and fully trained but still watched closely just in case. She doesn't act as if the crate is punishment, she likes it in there like it sounds like yours does. Good luck!

(For removing urine from the carpet or anything else, Urine Gone or Nature's Miracle. They don't hide the smell, they actually completely remove the urine by breaking it down and dissolving it all the way through the padding)
