is BMI in D.C.?
Cause when I search (WAS) airport BMI comes up.
What airports are in D.C.?
Which is the closest to the train station - (WAS).
Questions about Washington D.C. (WAS)?
If you are using a search engine, WAS will locate any and all flights that arrive in the metro area: Ronald Reagan National, Dulles, and Baltimore Washington International.
WAS is also the abbreviation for the Washington Union Station (AMTRAK and MARC).
This is my help from Washington, D.C. United States of America.
Reply:I think you mean BWI, not BMI. There are no airports actually *in* DC; two are in the Virginia suburbs and one is in Maryland.
As for train station, are you referring to Union Station? In that case, it would be National Airport, which is technically in Arlington, Virginia. There is a Metro station right outside the airport. You can take the Yellow Line to Gallery Place and transfer to the Red Line towards Glenmont/Silver Spring to get to Union Station. Or you can take the Blue Line to Metro Center and take the Glenmont train.
If you fly into BWI, which is outside Baltimore, Maryland, there's the B30 bus that runs every 40 minutes to the Greenbelt Metro station on the Green Line. You can transfer at Fort Totten and catch the Red Line in the direction of Shady Grove/Grosvenor, but it means going up two escalators. Or you can take the Green Line all the way to Gallery Place and transfer to the Red Line.
If you fly into Dulles, there's a Washington Flyer shuttle every half hour. It costs $9 one way or $16 round trip and goes to the West Falls Church station on the Orange Line. You would take the Orange Line to Metro Center and transfer to the Red Line.
Reply:There are, as folks have said, three airports in DC.
DCA/Reagan National is closest to Washington, DC. It is closest to Union Station, which is the train station for which the code WAS is correct.
There is, however, a train station at BWI - Baltimore Washington International airport. This is both a MARC Commuter train station AND an AMTRAK station (both the airport and the train station are coded BWI. And there is a shuttle from the airport terminal to the train station (ask at the ground transportation information counter.)
As others have said, BMI is not in DC but BWI (Thurgood Marshall Baltimore Washington International Airport) is a DC airport.
Reply:Washington, DC has several airports.
Reagan National is the domestic airport metro accessible.
Dulles International is a $50 cab ride outside of the city.
BWI Baltimore International can be accessed by bus from the Greenbelt Metro on the edge of D.C.
BMI and WAS are not in or near Washington, DC
If you are flying within the United States, you would want to choose Reagan National Airport
Reply:To follow what the previous writer said...BMI is NOT in Washington DC...it is in Illinois.
Washington Airports are as follows: DCA is Washington/Reagan National Airport; BWI is Baltimore Washington International Airport and Dulles International Airport is = IAD.
Train connections are as described above.
Reply:There are 3 airports serving D.C. Regan National is closest in distance. Dulles is in Northern Virginia, about 20 minutes away, and BWI (not BMI) is in Baltimore, Maryland.
None is close to Union Station in D. C., the Amtrak train station. Baltimore does have a train station within a long walk of BWI that will take you to Union Station, though.
You'll have to change to Metro and take that to Regan. Metro has a main station right in Union Station and you'll find easy to read maps and fare machines. Just select the color of the route, match it to your destination and put the money in. Union Station also has lots of food courts and 2 floors of shopping and restaurants. While you're there, you should check out the main hall. It's impressive.
So, the best plan is to take the train to Union Station. Buy a Metro (subway) ticket to Regan National. Or, fly to Regan and buy a Metro ticket to Union Station.
