Best method for Puppy Potty training anyone?

I have 3 dogs. The first 2 are now about a yr old. My third is just about 3 months. He is just now learning to be inside. We kennel the dogs when we are not at home and take the puppy out every hour on the hour when he is lounging with us. However, he does have an accident now and then . I don't want to have to re-potty train my 2 adolescent dogs b/c of him. I have rubbed his nose in it, made him scratch the door, took him outside, and then gave him a treat WHILE he peed outside. He is still bonding with us so I dont really like to spank him or rub his nose into the carpet. It seems to make him back away from me which is the last thing I want. IS there a better method? I have heard to try taking up the water bowl- which seems cruel, but as a pit bull..he DOES over-do the food and water. My pitties never seem to want to stop drinking or eating. Im at a loss.

Best method for Puppy Potty training anyone?
My dogs are kenneled as well when not at home but know not to go in the house.

Instead of taking him out each hour make it every 2 hours and start praising him with your speech and not always with treats. Treats can spoil the dog into thinking he can get something edable for doing something good. After he's eaten wait 30 minutes and then take him out and walk him around. Always be very happy and audable when asking if he needs to go out. Use phrases of You need to go potty or you want to go outside and get very excited. After walking him around on a leash to also help leash train, praise him again very happily and excited by petting and playing with him.

This makes potty time fun and he'll learn to go outside.

Taking him out every hour will not teach him to learn bladder control and that can cause him to have accidents in the house.
Reply:larger breeds eat more and drink more i would use potty training pads they work really good or diapers when your gone
Reply:Be nice to your dogs rubbing there nose in the carpet is not the way! If you have two other dogs this new one will pick up and learn from them. As for the water and food these are pit bulls they will eat and drink a lot
Reply:if he goes on paper tell him good dog move the paper closer to the door if he dose it on the carpit show him tell bad dog!!!!!
Reply:puppies need to eat at certain times(meal times) usually 2 times a day. This will help them get on a schedule of going to the bathroom. A puppy only needs about 8 oz. of water per 10 pounds of body weight. This helps with excess urination and it is not CRUEL!

When a puppy has an accident in the house clean up the mess with a paper towel have the puppy smell it , then take the puppy and the mess out the same door every time. Put the paper towel in the grass and have the puppy smell it there .Do not allow play time. Then throw the paper towel away outside and take the puppy inside and do not offer treats.
Reply:DON'T RUB YOUR DOGS NOSE IN IT!

simply start from the beginning put papers on the floor in a room, then slowly put less and less papers down and move it to the door...
Reply:i dont have any pets, but i like this 1 the best

whenever ur pup has finished eating or drinking, make him go outside and stay with him outside until he has gone to the toilet. Praise him everytime he does this.

Keep doing this and he will automaticly go out whenever he needs to pee.

If u want him 2 do it in a potty or something like that, do the same.

Also, b4 u go out, make sure you feed all ur dogs and then take away their food. (i no it sounds cruel but it stops them from pooing and peeing in the house) And if they open the fridge or jump up onto the kitchen surfaces for food, i hear u can buy these alarm thingys to put on the fridge and under mats so when pressure goes onto the mat or when the door of the fridge opens, a alarm goes off. Pretty cool huh??
Reply:goin through the same thing right now with our new puppy if you will watch you puppy will potty usually the same time every time at least thats the way ours is and if you get it down to where you know what time your puppy go's than if yours is like ours it will let you know when it needs to go we always give ours a treat too that way it seems more like a game that your puppy gets rewarded for, hope that helped you a little bit
Reply:DONT USE PUPPY PADS. A dog cannot distinguish the pad from your carpet or your couch later on in life. The best method to potty train is this: Buy a kennel large enough for your dog when he will be done growing. Using cardboard or even plywood, section it off so that for his size now he has only enough room to get in, turn around, and lay down. Remove all bedding and toys, food, and water. A dog's kennel is much like their den in the wild. A dog WILL NOT urinate/defecate where they sleep. Every time you remove the dog from the kennel, take outside immediately. Take them to the same spot in the yard, making sure there are piles out there for the dog to pick up the scent to know what to do. Give them a few minutes. If nothing, take back inside and put right back in the kennel. Wait 20-30 mins and repeat. Do this until the dog goes outside. Praise ONCE THEY ARE DONE, not during. As for feeding times, a puppy usually has to go to the bathroom about 20mins after eating. The best thing to do is to feed him, then put in his kennel, and repeat the process. Once he has gone potty outside, he can have freedom within the house, but not until. Once he catches on, introduce the blankets and toys back into his cage. Keeping them in there now encourages the dog to urinate in the cage because a lot of times they will pee under the blanket and use it to absorb the urine. Dogs really do not need food or water in their cages, ESPECAILLY puppies as usually they just make a mess with them, and the food will just encourage them to defecate in the cage. Also, feed your dogs on a schedule, as in AM and PM, specific measured amounts. A dog that is eating all day long is a dog that is pooping all day long.
Reply:How about crating the pup? Crating is a great way to house train any dog. And seeing that your 2 older dogs are crated. To me that would be the way to go with your puppy. Keep him in the crate until it's time to bring him outside again. As soon as he's done outside, put him back in his crate. It teaches the dog to hold his urine and poop until it's time for him to go back outside. I don't really know what to tell you about their food and water situation tho. Maybe some one else can give you some advice about that. Good luck!
Reply:What I did is if they went to the bathroom on the floor in your house then you would tell them " bad dog" then, put their nose in it while saying bad dog. After put them in a cage for about 5 to 10 minutes.
Reply:puppy pads
