Litter box training a dog?
LMAO. Im Lucky I Didnt Buy That. My Dog Would Have Had A Ball Ripping It Up And Throwing It All Over My Apt.
Reply:try using a litter that doesnt have a scent, maybe his nose is too sensitive to the smell of litter thats why he may not want to go in it. Just remember what ever you do, you can train a dog to do anything, just keep it up and it will listen.
Reply:once a dog started using the litter box then he/she will depend on it. you should just take your dog out several times a day till your dog is potty trained
Reply:I don't know if the litter will work, but there are training pads available from good pet stores.
Reply:Yes, it is safe and OK. But if you have a bigger dog, I would not recommend litter box training. then you are just encouraging it to eliminate indoors. But if your dog is a toy sized or miniature, then litter box may work. I just don't like the idea of ANY waste indoors. It won't smell nice and isn't sanitary. I would just take the time to potty train your dog and just get used to letting your dog go outside to do his business.
Reply:Isn't it easier to let your dog out in the yard or go on a walk so he can go?? Dogs don't bury their feces like cats do, so I would think the smell would be unbearable in your house. But good luck whatever you decide!

I litter trained a French Lop rabbit once. I didn't even do it on purpose. He just watched the cats and started going in the litter box himself. He could be on the stairs and he'd make a beeline for the litter box when he had to go. It was awesome!!
Reply:litter box for a dog never hear of that before

only for a cat
Reply:Been there done that...Tried litter and pads with no results; she will go on newspaper sometimes though. I never heard of any dog that will actually use a litter box; not in their nature.
Reply:it is abit strange to litter train a dog. especially as you will need a big litter tray. plus dog poo smells really bad, you will end up stinking out your own house.

why don't you try Wood pellets, it use it on my kitten and i have never had any problems
Reply:The safest kind of litter is corn-based or any kind of grain litter, because it wouldn't cause any digestive problems if your dog ate some of it or something like that. It may be a little more costly than your regular clay litter, but it's a lot cheaper than having to pay for surgery later, so go for the healthier route.
