Woman Marine basic training prep tips?

I'm a senior in high school and I don't plan on enlisting until I turn 18 b/c my family won't support me, but since I have all this time, I'd really like some advice on how to get into tip top shape.. I'm a little overweight w/ strong legs but virtually no upper body strength.. What are some tips about ANYTHING that can help me with building strength, endurance, and dropping the extra pounds.. Also if anyone knows the weight requirements for females, that'd be a big help also!!

Woman Marine basic training prep tips?
Start running at least 3 times a week, do at least 100 sit ups/crinches daily before you go to sleep. In bootcamp they gonna run you until you pass out, you do run alot. I been in the Marines 9 years, and to this date i still run at least 3 times a week. Been a female you dont need alot of upper body strength. good luck
Reply:I have never been in the military but everybody knows that it is tough. Stop eating junk snacks if you do and replace them with fruit and nuts. Use skim milk instead of whole milk. Don't go on a diet though because you will get weaker, just choose healthier alternatives. When you exercise start out slowly and build up. Gets some hand held weights and exercise and run while holding them. Do push ups. If you can join a gym, do so or go to the YMCA to get tips from others on exercises. You do not want to injure yourself.
Reply:RUN, RUN, RUN!! Do those push-ups. Get rid of as much body fat as you can now. The better shape your in, the better for you in boot camp. Get a back pack and fill it with about fifty pounds of rocks, put it on your back and run, run, run. I am not kidding about this, I am serious as cancer. They are going to try to run your legs off you. You will need mega arm strength, so lift weights. Good luck to you.
Reply:Join the Weight training class if it is offered at your school. or ask a P.E. Teacher or sports coach. And actually participate in it don't just work on your legs you will want to focus on your shoulders and back a lot. The teacher will guide you on how to use all the machines. Also Cardio is important so go on a run each day while in training.

Good Luck
